Tired of your high electric bill? Put the madness to rest and start saving! Here are some great tips I've found extremely useful and have dropped my electric bill.

Get a pen and paper and start taking notes.  There are numerous ways to start saving on your electric bill today!

Turn off your computer!  Did you know it will cost you approximately $183.96 a year to leave your computer on all the time? That's $15.33 a month! If you use your computer for 4 hours a day and turn it off when its not being used, you'll save $151.77 a year!!

Unplug it! If you aren't using it, don't leave it plugged in.  Everything plugged in still uses electricity even if you're not using it!

Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent.  They cost less to use and last longer!

When you're doing dishes or laundry, be sure its a full load!  A full load of wet clothes will always dry faster than a partical load too.

Turn lights off when you're not using them.  There is no need to have a light on when you're not even in the room using it.  If you live alone and like having a light on for security reasons at night, put it on a timer.

Baths use more hot water, so try taking showers instead!

Use a digital thermostat. Set your a/c and heat so you're not using too much when you're not home or when you're sleeping.

Use energy efficient appliances.  When you buy appliances they should have an Energy Star rating showing how efficent they are.

Did you know it costs about $6-7 a year for an alarm clock to run?  Unplug the ones you're not using in guest rooms until someone comes to visit.
