Journalist Roxana Saberi who worked for BBC has been accused of being a spy by Iran and jailed for eight years, I have been called back to intervene, but most likely will not be called for my help, so there is no point in writing to the BBC offering it, But I will say now I could get Roxana released.

American journalist Roxana Saberi has been convicted of spying in Iran and sentenced to eight years in prison, her lawyer told St Michael’s press officer.

It’s unclear how the conviction would affect the inexperienced President Obama or his administration in better relations with Iran which at its best is shaky.

Roxana Saberi, a 31-year-old dual American-Iranian citizen, was arrested in late January and initially accused of working without press credentials.

But earlier this month, an Iranian judge leveled a far more serious allegation, charging her with spying for the U.S. which most likely for proper-gander

She appeared before an Iranian court behind closed doors on Monday in an unusually swift one-day trial.

Saberi from Fargo, North Dakota, had been living in Iran for six years and had worked as a freelance reporter for several news organizations including National Public Radio the BBC, CCN, NBC and Fox news.

'Saberi has been sentenced to eight years in jail. Her lawyer told St Michael’s press officer I'll definitely appeal the verdict,' said Abdolsamad Khorramshahi.

It was not immediately known when she was convicted or what the evidence was that convicted Ms Saberi.

Off course the U.S. has called the charges against Saberi baseless and has also demanded her immediate release, the conviction and prison sentence will put strains on efforts to improve ties and it’s not really the way to go giving how the Iranian public feels about Americans? As I have said I am willing to help but I no I will not be asked?

President Barack Obama in an earlier press statement has said it wants to engage Iran in talks on its nuclear program and other issues a departure from the out spoken talk of the Bush administration.

Iran has been mostly unresponsive to the idea, and this latest development with Ms Saberi won’t help matters
