Asha's is a classy Indian Restaurant in Dubai owned by Asha Bhonsle - the popular playback singer of Hindi film Industry..

Asha Bhonsle is one of the most popular playback singers of the Hindi Film Industry, she is easily one of the most versatile singers ever...Her voice has mesmerised listeners for 5 generations, but according to her close friends and relatives Asha is even a better cook !!...that is quite a formidable thought

Asha is a great cook and she loves to experiment with various ingrtedients.Another great passion of her is collecting recipes from friends and relatives.According to her own admission she has collected over 400 rare Indian, Mughlai, Marathi, and other recipes. She combined her interest in cooking and collecting recipes and forayed into the world of cuisine, selecting Dubai as the first venue for her restaurant chain aptly titled `Asha's'.
The restaurant opened in 2002 at the Pyramids in Wafi City, one of Dubai's premier shopping malls.

Interior design firm Graham Taylor has Designed the interiors of Asha's based on the theme of fire and water. There are rich colors and mood lighting in addition to the ethnic Indian decorations....
According to Yvonne Taylor who works with Graham Taylor Designs.. 'Everyone understands the power and importance of fire and water.'.. As we were led to the waiting area, which has a lovely seating arrangement with the walls covered with Asha's pictures with her family and various film personalities.. there are water-filled bowls with fragrant blooms sharing space with a wall of candles.
The decor is very very pleasing without being overwhelming or gaudy. The walls and the whole interior has rich colors that exude warmth, and the whole effect is very classy.

I found the service very good. We had an individual waiter attending to our table only. The waiters are all very smart and well trained. The one who attended on us was a young Indian studying for his degree by day and working at Asha'a at night. He seemed to be enjoying his job at Asha's which according to him was very well paid and interesting as he got to meet many film personalities and dignitaries visiting Dubai.

We had some refreshing Lemon juice and Beer and some interesting cocktails, one called Burnt wine, is red wine mixed with spices like cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg and another one named East India Cocktail , which was a heady combination of 2 different varieties of Brandy and pineapple juice with some spices, , this with the delicious kebab platter ,which, was to say the least YUM !. An excellent selection with Boti kabab (which was small pieces of skewered marinated lamb grilled to perfection), Harra kabab , a vegetarian kebab with green masala with an addition of mint, chillies and herbs ground together and shallow fired, Kalmi kabab which had a grilled portion of a large chunk of ground mince and masala and Sunkat Shunti and Mashyachie Kebab; Jumbo Prawn kebabs...no complaints at all !

The main course consisting of Kolhapuri mutton & Prawns chingri malai curry, Chicken Biriyani, Parathas, Cucumber Raita and Aloo Gobi (Potatoes and Cauliflower masala) was again well above the average in presentation, taste and portions. We were 5 people and ordered one of each dish except parathas which we ordered individually according to taste... I had a stuffed paratha which was just perfect in texture and taste.
We finished off with Chocolate Fudge Cake and Agra Ka Shahi Tukda (Deep fried bread soaked in a sweetened saffron milk and garnished with nuts), again very very tasty..

I loved the whole experience of dining at Asha's and it is definitely worth a visit for all Indian food lovers
It is a bit on the expensive side..
Our meal for 5 including the cocktails came to 1200 dirhams..
