Season 8 on American Idol and the new twist is the Judge's Save. It is finally used! Check out who they used it on and the rules that must be followed now it was utilized.

After weeks of speculation and after numerous teases from the American Idol judges Season 8's twist is finally utilized.

April 15th, tax day in America, and save day on American Idol.  The judges have made all the past fallen contestants sing for their survival this season.  The Results night always goes down the same.  Ryan Seacrest  playfully teases each contestant with their fate for the night.  Pulls out the bottom three, after numerous "After the break" statements and usually a performance or two from a current singing sensation.

Last night,  Anoop Desai, Lil' Rounds, and Matt Giraud were asked to take a seat across the stage in the dreaded bottom three seats.   Ryan goes ahead and sends Anoop back to safety.   So, the bottom two sit and await their fate.  Simon says there is one they may use the save on, but we will have to wait and see.  After pop star sensation Mylie Cyrus takes the American Idol stage, Ryan announces who will be singing for their life.  Lil' Rounds is told she can take a seat.  Matt Giraud must make a last attempt to wow Randy, Kara, Paula, and Simon.  There was a buzz in the air...would the judges deem Matt's performance worthy?

American Idol Season 8 is the first time the Judge's Save has been introduced.  In past seasons, there have been several shockers, where some of the top performers unfortunately received the least votes and had to exit the show in a rather untimely manner.  There were a couple catches to this year's twist of the Judge's Save.   First, it could be used up until the final five.  So, this week was the second to last week the judges could flex this option.  Next catch was when one contestant is saved the following week two contestants will be going home.

After Matt sang what he thought was his last performance, the judges gave the news of their deliberation.  Matt Giraud was safe.  The Judges used their save.  There has been a lot of different buzz online as to wither or not the save would even be executed or if it was just a ploy to bring even more drama and suspense to the departure of each idol want-to-be.  Now we know, the Judge's save was used.

Unfortunately, next week we will now be saying goodbye to two contestants.  My bet is it will still be Matt Giraud and either Lil' Rounds or Anoop Desai.  Remember your vote keeps your favorite in the contest...do I sound like Ryan Seacrest?
