The Program

1.    Street and Marginal Children Assistance
This program has been held since 2000 by assisting street children in their basis in Medan downtown.  There are 4 (four) areas under Madya Insani attention; those are; Medan Amplas, Aksara, Sukaramai, Medan Johor.
For supporting this activity, Madya Insani provides a shelter for street children. Located in Jl. Bajak V Gang Bahagia No.138- Medan Amplas, this shelter also functions as an office for Madya Insani.  
There are 150 street and marginal children under Madya Insani assistance. They join alternative education and handicraft trainings. Most of them go home to their own house after class. Therefore, Madya Insani had ‘Home Capacity Building.” By doing this, Madya Insani develop an economic program which involved street children parents. The goal of this program is to increase their family welfare so that they would not go back to the streets.
Handicraft program is also held. This aims to prepare the street children to have life skill for their future.  When street give no more change for them, the children can practice their skill to get their better life. Handicraft program includes making furniture, making Gerabah from clay, sewing (especially for girls), making soaps, cloth whitener, and perfumes.  
There are about 500 marginal children in coastal area under Madya Insani assistance. The number spread from Medan, Deli Serdang, Sergei, Langkat, Madina and Asahan. In each area there is a coordinator to hold the program. It is reported monthly Program to the executive director, discussed, evaluated to meet the need of society.
The main program is alternative education for drop out students. Madya Insani together with Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) gives handicraft trainings in accordance with the potentials of the area. This aims to motivate the children to achieve their own goal in the future, better than what they are now.

2.    Alternative Education  
Madya Insani forms a learning center for society or Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (PKBM). In this program PKBM Madya Insani holds equal education, Packet A (equal to elementary School), Packet B (equal to Junior High school), Packet C (equal to Senior High school). Madya Insani holds also a library for children and society.
This program nowadays spread out in some other areas like Medan, Langkat, Deli Serdang dan Serdang Bedagai. For the permit to develop this program is only from education department of Medan, student and children in other areas aree registered in Medan. Madya Insani hope that the students outside Medan, after finishing their study regularly, could join national Examination in Madya Insani in Medan. Because of madya Insani hasonly permit from Education Departement of Medan.
In Ramadhan, Madya Insani also held an alternative education such ‘ Pesantren Kilat’ (intensive Islamic religious class) for the children. This program began in 2008 and till now, is held every Ramadhan in every Year. The goal of the program is to introduce to children religious teachings such as shalat (prayer), fasting, tolerance, and others.

3.    Handicraft Program
Madya Insani has trained some handicraft as sewing, flower pot from Gerabah, making bread, soap and cloth whitener.  The participant of the training is street children, marginal children and parents of street children.  

4.    Education for Women
Education for women is assist women under madya Insani assistance. Since fund reason, this program is only followed by women in Medan Amplas. However, women in some other area under madya Insani assistance have handicraft trainings, as mentioned above.  
In 2008, 30 women joined the sewing trainings. As a result, five of them get jobs in a garment company. The rest independently function their skill as tailors.
In 2009, through Directorate of Social Education in Jakarta, Madya Insani proposed 30 names to be trained in making bread. Unfortunately, there is no further information about the proposal up to now.  Anyway, Madya Insani would fight to hold the planned program.
In addition to continuing the sewing trainings, in 2010 ini Madya Insani will hold another training in making soap, cream soap and cloth whitener. This program is expected to help marginal women live independently and increase earnings for their family.   

5.    Environmental Conservation
Environmental Conservation Program of Madya Insani is held by environment Division which under Edy Syahputra S.Sos supervision. Environment conservation spread out in Medan, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Langkat, Asahan dan Madina. For doing this program, the head of division is helped by coordinator in each area. The first conservation Program is done is reforesting in canal area of Medan Amplas in 2009.
At this time, madya Insani try to invite community around coastal area of Deli Serdang, Sergei, Langkat, Asahan dan Madina, to replant and reforest mangrove in the coast line. Furthermore, the program will involve all of society element participate in replanting and reforesting of mangrove in their own area.  

6.    Founding Koperasi Serba Usaha (KPU) Madya Insani as an economic enterprise.
To support the program of handicraft, Madya Insani together with the local community found an economic enterprise named as Koperasi Serba Usaha (KSU) Madya Insani. This enterprise is based on permit of Department of Koperasi dan UKM Province Sumatera Utara. The program includes handicraft marketing, financing, savings, and savings for New Year, for Lebaran, for education, for pilgrimage, for health insurance, for pre-marriage.

7.    Social Welfare Insurance of Madya Insani
Social Welfare Insurance of Madya Insani or Askesos Madya Insani is system for social protection to gurantee a commpasation family income among society. This insurance is aimed to help those who work as an individual worker in informal sector in facing the risk of social welfare caused by illness, accidents, or death. They are heneraaly not touched yet by other insurance.
In majority, the member of askesos Madya Insani are women especaillay mothers work as a daily labour in home industry. They ar usuallay is the main survivor for their family economy, for their husbands do not have certain job.
They are also active clients in their savings, besides as amember of Askesos madya Insani, which hold by KSU Madya Insani; that is Savings for Idul Fitri. In managing this, the certain structural board has been appointed to manage the Askesos Madya Insani.
