Madya Insani, One Of The Best Local Ngo In Medan, Nort Sumatera - Indonesia

Madya Insani is a non-government organization that concerns  to women and children problem of North Sumatera, especially of Medan. Originally, Madya Insani is a study club of students of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Komunikasi Pembangunan (STIKP), Universitas Muhamadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Universitas Sumatera UTara (USU) dan Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara (UISU).
In 1998, the students founded a team which named “A Team for Solidarity”.  At that time, the team held many activities for assistance and advocating street children marginal women in Medan. In 1999, the team involved in holding general election with UNFREL.
In 2000, having this team effectively worked, the statutes and rules for the institution and activity programs are arranged. In addition to it, name of the team was changed into ‘Madya Insani.’ Madya Insani means to be as ‘a mediator or arbiter for the society.’
Nowadays, some activities are held by Madya Insani especially relating to Social activity, education, women and children assistance, advocating, economic assessment and environment conservation.
Some facts are found that children under Madya Insani assistance especially street and marginal children could not take formal education for their economic hindrances. For this reason, Madya Insani holds alternative education that is non-formal education.  
Synergizing Madya Insani program to government program, Madya Insani had to have a permit. At the time the statutes and rules of Madya Insani was used internally, but for externally Madya Insani was not accepted for having no legality. In 2005, exactly on March 23, 2005, Madya Insani got the legality and legally registered by notary Masdelina Lubis SH.
Further, Madya Insani got permit from the head of village Kelurahan Harjosari II, Camat Medan Amplas, Social Department of Sumatera Utara, Education Department of Sumatera Utara and registered in Badan Kesatuan Bangsa dan Perlindungan Masyarakat (KESBANGLINMAS).
There are some programs are held among others; Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM) (Learning Center for Society, street Children Shelter, Education center for early year children, Play Group, street children assistance, and economic enterprises. So far, Madya Insani has held non-formal education for marginal children and economic assessment in Medan, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Langkat, Madina dan Asahan.
In 2009, for marginal society under madya Insani concerned is inhabited coastal area, Madya Insani tried to have cooperation with forest department to reconstruct and rehabilitate tidal forest, mangrove, especially in coastal area in Madina. This area needs to be rehabilitated after Tsunami in 2004.
