Mandelson brainless idea, Budget row over £2,000 payout to scrap a car is scraped

The Treasury is going to block the plans, behind the brainless idea of Lord Clown Mandelson’s to give motorists £2,000 towards the cost of a new car, St’ Michael’s press office has learnt, and it’s the only thing this government has done that makes any real common sense.

What would be next? Maybe £2000 towards a new TV, washing machine, or a new kitchen? Why is this idiot even an MP (Old boy net work) I wonder how many back hander’s Mandelson would have been getting from the car manufactures?

The decision is a huge blow to Lord Mandelson, the Clown Business Secretary, who has staked his reputation on rescuing the beleaguered car industry, so much for his reputation not that I ever thought he ever had one? And if the car industry really wants to save its self then sell cars cheaper and service and repair them cheaper, profit and greed has been the car industries own down fall.

The Treasury decision and the right one, has caused a deep rift between Clown Mandelson and Alistair Darling, and damaging relations between two government departments at the centre of efforts to lift England out of its recession.

Clown Mandelson wants the Chancellor to make his scrap-age scheme the centrepiece of the Budget on April 22. However, Alistair Darling and some other Treasury officials have expressed deep anxieties about the cost and terms of the programme, which would encourage drivers to scrap old vehicles for new, cleaner cars. It would also give the motor industry a sales boost but only to these that can actually afford to buy new cars which most of us can’t?

Under the half wit Lord Mandelson’s plan, motorists who owned cars more than nine years old would scrap their vehicle and obtain a certificate. This could be presented at any car dealership in England to claim a £2,000 discount on the price of a new car or one less than a year old. The scheme is based on one in Germany that has been hailed as a huge success and it would be as the Germans for a start have a better income than most workers in England.

In the deadlock are signs of growing differences between the Treasury and Clown Mandelson’s Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and is likely to reinforce the perception that Clown Mandelson is a potentially divisive force within the Labour Party.

He has already expressed publicly his frustration at the speed with which the Treasury is addressing the crisis facing the car industry. In private, he has also let his increasing irritation with Darling and the Treasury be known. According to officials, the Business Secretary has been heard openly to ask: “When was the last time we had a successful Budget?”
