Ethics in Enterprises
The aim of this paper is to reflect on Ethics in Business to motivate actions, changes in behavior, and a reassessment of the code of ethics applied by enterprises.
The ethics can say that is actually how the education of our character, temperament or willingness on the ground in search of a meaning in life. Translating is a conscious or intuitive in that we learn throughout our life, which helps us to choose between vice and virtue, between good and evil, between just and unjust. It is the habitual and firm disposition, based on intelligence and willingness, to do good. Be ethical, then, is to always be in well with itself, fighting addictions and weaknesses, virtues grow, protect and preserve the life and nature, is to be happy.
The practice of ethics in organizations requires conviction, political will and appropriate skills to make specific business activities and objectives, minimizing the resistance and misunderstanding.
There are many ways unethical to act in organizations, as, moreover, in life in general. You can make statements that are not true, overestimate or underestimate circumstances and situations, withholding information that should be shared, evade taxes and circumvent laws, distort facts in their interest, tell half-truths that lie hidden in the lead with appearance of truth.
According to Nash (2001, pg. 3) "although the activity of money has always had an uneasy alliance with half the sense of morality in people."
In a country where every day there are new taxes, which is intrinsic in the culture of the employees' jeitinho Brazilian ", it is for managers the task of making their business ethics, and that winning is not always the best way to growth.
Understanding of Moreira (1999, p.28, apud, hear, 2006, p3), which conceptualized business ethics as "the conduct of the business profitably understood when acting in accordance with moral principles and rules of conduct and accepted by the community ( ethical rules). "
In the definition of Denny (2001, p.134), there is no distinction between morality and ethics, business ethics, for it is the pursuit of common interest, ie the entrepreneur, consumer, labor and government. Both authors confirm that companies should follow the moral principles.
The company is, day after day, changes in legal, economic, social and organizational. In this cycle of metamorphoses, companies begin to realize that the traditional system of remuneration - based solely on hierarchical aspects - can be replaced by models that consider the ability, competence and performance of professionals. Unlike the traditional model, the pay for skills and abilities is linked to a more horizontal organizational structure, a smaller segment of the offices and a focus on the person than the function, seeking to develop the individual and organization. Resende says Ênio author of "Career and Salary Based on skills and abilities."
"The pay for skills and abilities can provide more objective and do justice in the criteria for remuneration, ie the nominal wage."
Companies are fearful of the risks of moving labor policies and labor practices, but they adopt the model of power there is that risk carefully. The fear is unwarranted, many accommodation. Why not adopt correct criteria of wage differentiation, companies end up creating situations of injustice real wages and real reasons for labor complaints.
When the company has in its view that its greatest asset is its employees and provides them opportunities for growth and development within the company, offering wages, job training and recognition for serving the company.
Companies should have an ethical stance independent of external factors, and have always focused on the values it stands for. ETICA is something we all need, some say they have but few actually take seriously, is showing some concern, but many forget the meaning of the word ETICA. (Eduardo Botelho, 2000, p.5)
The result is the image that some companies are in fact facing the customers, but they are just saying this, but without ethics.
Some companies, is to customer satisfaction, but satisfaction that ends when the customer makes the payment, always wanting to win is that many companies are gradually losing space on the market, because consumers want to be treated with respect, and seek in companies confidence and assurance of services and it was agreed, when this happens, it breaks the link company / client.
Focus on the profit motive in the sole interest of shareholders of the organization, with the explicit exclusion of all other interests of the people who participate in the process - employees, customers, public, competitors, etc. - is a form of discrimination based on concentration of ownership and of wealth.
Conflicts in client / company should take into account the existing law that stipulates the rights and obligations of both parties, but the most important to maintain good relationship with the client to recognize the failures of companies in the process, the errors and take action in ethics, it is understood Santos (1999, apud goldsmith, 2006. p6) that in this day and age we must think and think fast, with courage and boldness, a new ethic for development.
The globalization of the economy meant that the logistics is no longer one single department within the company, but a challenge to better serve you.
The customer service, today, can be considered, without doubt, a major differential competitive market. The main cause is the increasing demand of consumer and competition fierce among companies of the branch where the best price is not a differential.
The importance of meeting delivery times, creates a great company to wear for some time and the managers have been questioned on the issue of late products, either by vendors or by the CD (Distribution Center) which is generating great discontent among the main customers and wear within a company. And, say, in passing, for a firm and unquestionable improvement in the level of service to the user, who wants to met deadlines.
The relationship between company and client has been responsible for the survival or failure of many institutions in our country. Retain the customer, or conquer it and keep it, is an arduous task for many entrepreneurs, we know that the satisfaction of our customers depends directly on overcoming their expectations and excellence in care by organizations.
Therefore, the logistic assumption also requires the best customer service, or to treat the same excellence.
With the market and in the interests of businesses on the level of service offered to its customers, it is indicative of ethics for the logistics, which are necessary factors for development of new service levels such as: time of execution and their level of reliability, processing time of tasks, availability of personnel and equipment required; attitude (calm) respectful, conciliatory spirit, punctuality, friendliness, easy to remedy mistakes and failures, agility and accuracy in providing information on services in process , agility and precision in the tracking of cargo in transit or in process, speed in answering complaints and routing solutions, pricing structure easy to understand and simple to implement, simpler routes.
In the professional field is conduct that is accepted, respected, admired, if supported by the behavior that governs the actions of the professional category in a particular society that was the set of habits and customs of that society.
The professional ethics has as premise the largest of the professional relationship with clients and other professionals, taking into account values such as human dignity, self achievement and sociability.
Finally, the concern with the ethics of professionals should focus on two major points: the first is in compliance with legal obligations within the predetermined rules, the second, the customers, who do not have their desires met, the procedures have to the other, properly met.
When the ethical question goes to the public within the organization a series is subject to errors occur if the company has not set its code of ethics, and even if you have the need to constantly integrating ethics into their decision making.
Offer a development program that incorporates the administrative ethics in the company's internal training, can be a solution to reach all hierarchical levels, making the code of ethics is widely practiced by all.
In the 80s the Participatory Management was widely discussed in business, leading the National Association of Participatory Administration (ANPAR), which facilitated the exchange among the dozens of companies with experience in this field.
Most of the process of Participatory Administration but is limited to what we call the participation granted, opens space for opinions, discuss, suggest, and even participate in the decision, but there is no participation in decision-making power, usually the decision already is taken.
For this reason, perhaps, the Participatory Management failed to move the business, "the fear of delivering the power of decision and lose the field."
What companies can adopt the model of Sociocracia is ensuring that decision-making power is shared with partners and employees, so that the influence of the owner remains as to partners and employees is not only "granted" and becomes genuine co-management.
Sociocracia The term was first used by Sociologist - philosopher Auguste Comte (1798 - 1857). In the late 60s Gerard Endenburg creates the industry for his family in the Netherlands model of participatory management Sociocrático.
You can say that today's organizations are one of the greatest actors of society processors. So is trying to work the best for the society around them. Milton Friedman says "If the business men have social responsibility other than to obtain the maximum profit for its shareholders, and may know what it ¿individuals can decide what is the social interest" ¿
You can answer the questions above as a means of identifying the "men of business" can get "maximum profit", offering the company for the return of their acts present the future:
- Environment: investing in natural resources, thereby ensuring its long-term enjoyment;
- Tax Load: abrigações comply with the law, even if they are not in agreement. Using legal means to change the situation for the sake of all;
- Community: Participating in social projects, encouraging the participation of employees in the projects;
- Contributors: Providing a true participatory management, investing in skills, accepting differences.
Conclusion: This study is to emphasize the value of ethics within organizations, the importance of social responsibility.
In a global scenario, we find that there are many charges and demands from society for transparency within the organizations, both in dealing with customers, suppliers, services, not to be deceived and do not harm the environment.
Companies need methods for monitoring their processes and the company take measures to inhibit abuses committed by organizations.
In my opinion companies should be fair with customers, treat them with respect, valuing them, not beat them, acting in ethics, knowledge of their responsibilities and fulfill them in a way correct.
Valuing employees providing assistance and opportunities for growth because they often are the business card of the company.
The business ethics may be the soul of the business to combat fierce competition from the globalized world.
