If you would like to save money on groceries without using coupons or watching the weekly grocery sales, this article will show you how. Save on gas also by getting a lot of your groceries in one place. Angel Food Ministries donates $1 of each food package bought to the church that sponsors it (the pick up location).

Angel Food Ministries started in 1994 in Monroe, Georgia to help feed families after factory closings. This program has grown and currently 39 states are involved in helping people save on the cost of food. The program is aimed towards helping anyone save money on their grocery bill, regardless of how much or how little money they make. They just want to help make food more affordable for all. There are no forms to fill out, no requirements. Here's how the program works:

Once a month, Angel Food Ministries offers several different food packages that anyone can purchase. These are quality food packages that can feed a family of four for a week. (Angel Food Ministries buys quality  meats, frozen vegetables, fruits, dairy products, etc., no inferior or outdated food). Each month the menu is different. Each food package contains fresh, frozen and packaged food, each package is $30, which would cost about $65 or more in the grocery, depending on your region. Examples of foods included are steak, chicken breast and more.  Check online for detailed menus.  You can buy as many boxes as you like.  There is also a package of 10 fully cooked meals for $28 for people on the go or for seniors, ready to be heated and served. Just a few examples of the good deals on groceries you will find.  They have recently added a seafood box that includes 6 pounds (2 pounds each of large shrimp, salmon and whiting fish) for $35.

Orders must be placed by a certain day in the month and all food must be picked up at the designated time and place, usually a Saturday. There are no deliveries. To find a location near you check on line at angelfoodministries.com or call 1-877-FOOD-MINISTRY. Orders may be made on line using a credit or debit card. You can also pay in person at the location with cash, food stamps.

This is a wonderful way to get a break from the constant rise in food prices. Check out the different food packages, you will be surprised at the money you can save and the great food offered!  Since the church that hosts the program is right around the corner from me, I thought it was worth a try.  I was somewhat skeptical, but was pleased with the food quality, especially the chicken breasts.  This month I am going to try the fish box and a fresh fruit box.  They even have an allergen free box. Seems like they have something for everyone!

I've heard about these and people seem to like them. From what I can tell they don't offer this in my area.

This is a great idea for mothers because you don't have to steer through all the grocery aisles with your children as all the tempting junk foods scream out to them. So you save money, too, because you don't end up with all kinds of extras in your cart! Just order and pick up, quick and easy.
