Support Midwives and Natural Child Birth

Support midwives and give women the choice for a natural child birth.

I'm trying to let as many people know about this as possible. It will have a major affect on the medical industry in N.C.

The following bills are currently under review by the NC General Assembly:

H333- Certified Professional Midwives Licensure (Support)

SB164- Unauthorized Practice of Medicine/Felony (Oppose)

SB1043- Naturopathic Doctors Licensing Act (Oppose)

Currently in North Carolina Midwives provide expecting parents with additional birth options which are not supported by the medical industry. Midwives teach and support parents who want to have natural births. In the medical industry, natural child birth is being replaced by cesarean sections which put both the child and mother at risk. Drugs given to the mothers, by doctors, disrupt the normal child birth process and puts unnecessary strain on the baby. Doctors then step in to save the baby by giving an unnecessary cesarean. The optimal cesarean rate for a country is 5-10%. Currently in the U.S., the cesarean rate is over 31.1% and rising. The current practice of midwifery is a misdemeanor by N.C. law. SB164 and SB1043 will make the practice of Midwifery a felony unless we can get H333 passed into law.

I'm trying to get the word out because many do not know this fight is even going on. Everyone needs to know about this and get involved. If you believe in natural child birth, support the licensing of midwives. I believe women should have the right to choose if they want a natural birth.

One thing that continues to concern me is that most doctors today seem to look at only the money aspect of things. They don't understand or try to understand the mental and psychological damage they cause when they intervene in the normal child birth process.
