Do you slam down your keyboard when faced with endless internet disconnection? Ever made a vulgar signal to another driver when he or she is honking at you? Ever put your fist through the wall after an argument with your spouse? Although anger is completely normal, it can lead to destructive and violence consequences when it gets out of control. Anger results from a combination of sources; disappointments, too much stress, recurring patterns, relationship problems, revenge and many others. The following tips are meant to help you understand and control your anger.

Instead of expressing your anger in a hostile, aggressive manner, why don't you expressing it in a healthy way. Anger if expressed appropriately, it can be healthy. Some people hold their anger inside and then, blow-up later on. You should get away from situations or people who might trigger your anger. As an example, when someone is teasing you, you can walk away and ignore the person. Give yourself time to cool off. Take a few deep breaths.

At other times, you may want to defend yourself over a particular situation. It is advisable to use only your body language to send a message that you are not comfortable in that situation. Respond to them in a calm and logical argument, without being overtly hurtful or aggressive. Be patient and remember that the reward for patience is happiness.

If you are too angry to think rationally, just remove yourself from the situation.Think of something relaxing. Do something that relaxes you . Try listening to light and easy music, reading, swimming, jogging, even sleeping. Practice these techniques daily. Learn to practice them automatically when you are angry. If you have got yourself into a problem, do not hold it inside; tell your spouse or closest friend about it.

Joining yoga or some spiritual classes also could help as they will give you a peace of mind. Once you get hold of your raging temper you can easily become more strong will. If you are angry and you are standing, sit down; if you are sitting then lie down. If those could not work, take a long shower. Water is the best element to cool you off.

Avoid lots of caffeine . Too much of caffeine increases the metabolism, heart rate and blood pressure, and causes mood irritability. Completely avoid alcohol and drugs, unless you are on medication. Alcohol and drugs will seem to relieve stress but the effects are temporary. Soon after, the depressed and angry feelings will not only return but usually escalate.

Learning to control your temper is definitely a skill. Although it may seem hard in the beginning, you will get used to it by constant practicing of the steps above. It is not only great for others, but most importantly it is great for you, physically and emotionally.
