Surabaya

The seconds largest city in Indonesia, Surabaya plays an integral part in the country's history and development. It is a vast center for manufucture as well as trade, and many of Indonesia's heavy industries are founded here. Various places in and around the city still retain intersting remnants of the region's illustrious history and diverse cultural attraction that are gaining worldwide recognition. As fast growing industrial are commercial center, Surabaya experince a boom of shopping malls, entertainment and dining centers, and world-class hotels that cater to both local and foreign tourist.

As an industrial city, Surabaya has all the MICE facilities needed-and every one matching international standarts plus an extra javanese touch. All top hotels can handle big events and have experienced multi-skilled and multi-lingual staff to ensure everything runs well. They've been hosting and managing world-class conventions for years

Transportation
The city is served by Juanda International Airport, the second busiest airport in indonesia in terms of transit passangers. It is famous as a transit airport between west and east Indonesia. And it is also the focused airport of many airlines. In the future, the international airport activities will be removed to the new airport which will be operated internationally

People and Culture
Culturally, Surabaya is a pluralistic city. Innumerable ethnic groups live there. The major ones the javanese and the Madurese. The Javanese are reserved. They love peace and stability. The Madurase are open and straightforward. Honor is very important for them. The fusion of the two ethnicĀ  value makes the people of Surabaya open, democratic, and enjoy solidarity. In the line with the characteristic of the people, the conspocuous characteristics of the art are dynamic, humoristic, and acrobatic

Climate
Surabaya, like the other parts of the Indonesian arhchipelago, has a tropical climate with two seasson rainy (october-april) and dry (may-september). The avearage temperature is between 20-30 degrees celsius (about 75-95 degree fahrenheit). It is sunny in for 70%-80%of the year.

Attraction

Sunan Ampel Mosque
Ampel mosque is believed to be the oldest in the country, built in 1421. Its founder, Sunan Ampel (otherwise known as Raden Ahmad Rachmatulloh),was one of nine figures who played a leading role in spreading islam acress java.

Kalimas Traditional Port
Kalimas is a living history of Surabaya's maritime heritage where carts and human toil continue to load and unload merchendise into and out of tile holds of brooch-beamed phinisi schooners. It is located at the east of Kalimas river, lies about 10 kilometers west of kenjeran beach.

Bubutan Kampong
Becoming one of crowded commerce center is surabaya is surely the destiny of bubutan area. Some existing buildings imply its oldness, build in colonial period architecture. They show European architect style interrogate the archipelago climate

House of Sampoerna
This stately Dutch colonial style compound build in 1858 is now functioning as a museum of one of Indonesia's most prestigious cigarette producer Sampoerna. The museum's top attraction is the making of Dji Sam Soe, the Most prestigious hand-rolled kretek cigarette.
