How to make the perfect Mai Tai Cocktail

The Mai Tai is a refreshing cocktail to chill out and enjoy the beautiful flavours of the selected ingredients. You will feel like you are sitting next to the beach on a tropical island

Ingredients you require for the perfect Mai Tai

  1. 30ml Light Rum
  2. 15ml Lime Juice 
  3. 15ml Orange Curcao
  4. 15ml Orgeat Syrup
  5. 30ml Dark Rum
  6. 5  crushed Ice cubes
  7. Maraschino cherry for garnish

Place the Light Rum, Lime Juice, Orange Curaco and the Orgeat Syrup into a shaker. Shake well until completely mixed. Strain into a half filled glass of ice. This cocktail looks very effective in an old fashioned looking glass. Lastly pour the dark rum into the mixture in the glass and garnish with a Maraschino cherry

Serve immediately for you and your guests to have a pleasurable experience. You are now ready to sit back by, relax and enjoy this magnificent cocktail and feel as though you are on a tropical island!

Interesting facts about the Mai Tai Cocktail

  • In Tahitian the word Mai Tai means "Out of this World."
  • The name Mai Tai appears as though it came from an exotic tropical island but it was actually made in America
  • Victor Bergron, was one bartender who claims he was initially responsible for the famous mixes of this beautiful cocktail but there is another who also claims that he invented the Mai Tai, Don the Beachcomber.
  • Victor claims he first discovered it in 1944 in America at Oakland's Trader Vic's, but Don the beachcomber claims he invented it earlier in 1933 at a Hollywood restaurant.
  • The Mai Tai is now considered Hawaii's favourite drink
  • It was named as one of the most important drinks of the 20th century according to the U.S Bartender's guide
