Basics of a Great Splash Or Squeeze Page
You must have a, grab their attention and knock their socks off while making them salivate at the mouth, headline so that it's all but impossible for them to leave.
Let's start with the definition of both a splash page and a squeeze page.
Splash page: Capture your visitor's attention and get them to click on a link that leads to another web page where the actual selling is done.
Squeeze page: Capture your visitor's attention and get (or squeeze) information from them such as a name, email, phone etc. to build your list.
The basics of building a great splash or squeeze page are pretty much the same. Listed below are some tips on making your splash or squeeze page to help you convert your visitors into customers.
Tip 1: You must have a, grab their attention and knock their socks off while making them salivate at the mouth, headline so that it's all but impossible for them to leave without clicking a link or giving you their information in return for your promised offer.
Tip 2: Your page MUST load completely within 2-5 seconds, preferably 2 seconds. If you're using traffic exchanges, most are set up with 5 to 30 second timers. Your page must load quickly or any chance you had to start with will be all washed up because your prospect will be looking at the next page before yours gets loaded.
Tip 3: Hold the graphics please. Keep your graphics and pictures to a minimum as they slow down the loading of your page. Whatever you use should be small and compressed so they load quickly.
Tip 4: Don't be cute or coy. People see right through that stuff and will just be laughing at your page, probably thinking, what a waste of time, instead of really looking at what it is you are trying to get across to them.
Tip 5: Tell your visitors exactly what you want them to do. Don't play guessing games and cram your page with a bunch of nonsense and other stuff that will only confuse people. Be precise and get right to the point. Tell them step by step what to do next. Click here, sign up today, sign up now, do this, do that etc. Don't be shy; just tell them what to do.
Tip 6: If using your page on a traffic exchange, always without fail, make sure your Splash page link that you want people to click on, opens in another browser window. If your page loads within the same browser and the timer runs out your potential prospect will be clicking on to the next page.
Tip 7: Do not put banners on your page. Learn to stick to your main objective and stay away from banners or other links that might distract your visitors. Remember, the only reason for this page is to get them to click to another web page where you can do the selling, or to capture their information so you can build your list.
Tip 8: If you're using a Squeeze page; ask for as little information as possible. People are very skeptical about giving their personal details. By asking for only what is absolutely essential you will increase your sign ups.
Tip 9: Test, track and test some more. You should always be willing to test different aspects of your page to see which converts the best and by all means, track your responses to see where they are coming from.
While there are many more factors involved in the making of a great splash or squeeze page, too many to cover here, these tips should get you on a faster path to success.
Always remember to stick with your main objective and don't overload your page with unnecessary stuff that will distract your potential prospect. Keep it simple.
