How to Turn on Automatic Windows XP Updates
This tutorial shows you how to configure Windows XP for automatic updates.

It is essential to keep up to date with the very latest of Windows XP security updates and other critical updates. These updates are essential for providing the latest available bug fixes for Windows, including fixes for potential DoS attacks. One of the most important updates you should obtain is the Windows Service Pack, which provides the latest available bug fixes and security patches.
To obtain Windows updates, you will need to be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later. If you prefer a different web browser, then you can instead obtain your updates from the Microsoft Download Center. You can also set up automatic updates via the Automatic Updates feature that comes built into Windows XP. Read on to learn how:
1. Click on the Start button at the bottom left hand corner of your screen. This opens the Start menu.
2. Click on the Control Panel option in the start menu. Depending on the particular Control Panel view that you use: Classic or Category, you will need to do one of the following steps:
*Click on System, and then click on the Automatic Updates tab.
*Click on Performance and Maintenance, and then click on System. Next, click on the Automatic Updates tab.
3. Select the option that you want. Ensure that Automatic Updates is not turned off.
