Dominate Page 1 of a Search Engine - How To Join Hubpages

OK, you may already be a member of hubpages. If your not, then keep reading as this will interest you.

This article is about dominating Page 1 of a search engine for any term using Hubpages and the term I have picked is How To Join Hubpages.

Note the keyword is in bold. Very search bot friendly and starts off the sequence to getting high positions in search engines. First point, place your keyword as close as possible to the start of your content. You will see the keyword phrase appear in the middle and at the end of this article so keep an eye out for it.

This will work with any keyword phrase, the longer the phrase the better, but will still work with shorter phrases.

I will write the hub first and publish. Then I will set about promoting it and will provide the obligatory screen shots to show the results, as they come in.

What I am about to do is publish a hubpage about a topic I picked clear out of the air, and I will write about it adding valuable content just like everyone else does when they write a hubpage. I will also show the power of hubpages that is the subject of many an e-book and internet marketers dream.

But, I will do one thing different to everyone else. I will promote the page by building backlinks to it. To prove my point, and this hurts, I will not put any links in the hubpage. (Oh the pain, I just love a quick cheap reciprocal link to my website).

Each backlink I build will find a place in the search engine. I am thinking I will try for six positions in the first ten positions of Google page 1.

I've written a few hubs about niche websites, blogging for money, Stumble Upon Digg etc.. but I feel they lack credibility. If I can dominate page 1 of Google for this search term, (notice I did not use it here) then my other hubs will carry far more weight then they do now.

There is an old addage (saying) around, the first is write a page and promote it. You see bloggers all have the same problem, they believe they have to post every day. Well that's not true, what you do is make a post and promote it.

This is the point of this article.  I will show you how to write a post, a hubpage, and then promote it. I will then show you that this hubpage will dominate page 1 of Google, in very short time.

What is Hubpages - Duplicate Content - Who Cares

When you join Hubpages, you are joining a community of like minded writers who both enjoy making a hubpage, or a post, or an article, informing you of their interest.

This is done by joining the site by completing your details when an email will be sent to you to confirm your account. You are then able to write your first hubpage.

When you visit a hubpage you will see on the right hand top side of the page the Author's quick bio.

That's the person who wrote the hubpage, where they are from, the amount of fans they have as well as their hubpage ranking score.

Now just above that, there is a great big sign that says, "CREATE YOUR OWN - Sign Up".

That is where you sign up to join Hubpages.

When you do you can then write your first hub, visit the forum for advice and surf the site for other hubpages so you can get a feel of things.

That's That

There is the hub. It's just like any other page. Content and a description of what the pages is about.

Now lets promote this page and dominate page 1 of a search engine for the keyword How To Join Hubpages.

Nothing like a starting point or in politicaly correct terms, our control subject.

Promotion Time

I will first start by making a pdf file and upload it to a document handling site that has a page rank of 7. Don't worry, you will see a screenshot in a few days of the site.

Why, because as I have spoken about before, it is a link well visited by search bots and will index the page quickly and find a position in the search engine index, hopefully page 1. Now before I start, I will guess right now, the page will come in at around positions 4 maybe 5 or 6.

Less would be better, but there's no hurry.

Publishing

I have to publish the hub so I can get the url.

I will publish and set about promoting the page. I will return very shortly with the earliest results.

It's Morning

It's 11.20am in the morning and I have just checked Google for my keyword - How To Join Hubpages.

By writing a quick pdf with little to no substance and loaded it onto Scribd and Docstoc you will see the hubpage holds position 1 and 2 on Google.

So everything looks natural to the search engine, I am promoting the page in stages so as not to trigger any alerts.

The next step now over the next few days is to Social Bookmark the page to build links slowly, very slowly.

I should see my social bookmark links start to fill in the other eight spots on page1, all going well.

I have to go away for work this week, so what I will be doing through the week is to write articles that I will submit to the major article directories to build even more links.

Yahoo Results 

I have now returned from working away and when I checked for the keyword of my choice for this project I was surprised to find the total domination of Yahoo.

Thats the first four positions out of 7 million.

The point of this is that when you target Google you will find a lot of fluctuations where one day your site is on page 1 and the other day it is totally gone.

The best thing is with your efforts, other search engines will pick up your efforts and hold your pages on page 1.

Lately, I have observed that Google is not indexing hubpages as they once did. In the past you could put up a hubpage and in a few hours find yourself on Page 1 for your keyword.

This is no longer happening. I suspect a Google Slap has been placed on Hubpages.

Remember there are a lot of search engines and the Yahoo results will be duplicated across all other varieties of search engines.

The Results Are In 

The purpose of the hub was to show those interested how to join Hubpages and market or promote their sites.

You know me, I never let an opportunity pass to test something, and here I tested dominating Page 1 of Google with any search term, simply plucked out of the air.

The search term all directing to this hubpage can be seen at positions 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 out of 759 thousand results when searched for.

You might agree with me, that this has been a resounding success.

I must admit, I am surprised with the results. I went to Ask.com and found similar results. I am also surprised that some social media sites have been slow to register on page 1.

The Approach I Took

First I used the system I spoke of in my lens, was a hub but thats another story, on One Way Page Rank 7 Back Links. Basically I have targeted some high page rank Web 2.0 sites for the backlinks and did exactly what I wrote in the lens.

I used flickr dot com to upload and mark some images. I then commented on those images with the back link to the hub page. Please note that this has not shown on the search engines yet - but does get local traffic from flickr.

I then put up a page on ehow dot com, submitted my pdf files to scribd and docstoc dot com.

To reinforce those sites I social bookmarked them and made reference to them in some blog post comments.

I use a small technique of leaving a comment on a high visited plus 300 Digg post that is relevant and submitted the link with my comment. That one trick carries huge back link power and is gold in my view.

There are other ways, but these ways that I have described here have proven the point. Take a keyword term, use some tried and proven techniques and you to, will own page 1 of any, yes any, search engine.
