Courtney Love Sued by Fashion Designer

Courtney Love has landed herself in hot soup after spreading lies about a fashion designer. The American rock musician/actress is facing a lawsuit from fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir, who claims Love has caused 'irreparable damage' to her name and reputation.

Simorangkir, also known as Boudoir Queen, filed the libel and breach of contract lawsuit against the singer on Thursday (March 26) at the Los Angeles Superior Court.

In her lawsuit, the designer has listed six complaints against the singer that include invasion of privacy, intentional interference with a prospective economic advantage, intentional infliction of emotional distress and two charges for breach of contract.

The lawsuit alleges that Simorangkir is “the latest victim of Love’s volatile personality, hair trigger temper, and malicious and tortuous behavior”.

Simorangkir claimed that the former Hole rocker never paid her for work done, and accused the singer of making "menacing and disturbing" statements about her (Simorangkir) on her Twitter and MySpace pages.

Citing remarks from Love's Twitter and MySpace pages, and in the feedback section of Etsy.com, the suit claims Love called Simorangkir a "nasty lying hosebag thief" and accused her of being a “drug addict”, a prostitute and a "horrible lying bitch”.

According to the court documents, Love contacted Austin, Texas-based Simorangkir through an online fashion boutique, Etsy.com, and began to purchase clothes from the designer’s Boudoir Queen clothing and accessory line.

Early this year, the 44-year-old musician asked Simorangkir and her husband to make custom clothings, but became angry after the designer sent an invoice to her for the work. Since Love wasn't inclined to pay her for the work done, Simorangkir stopped making items for Love which had angered the singer again.

Infuriated Love then allegedly started defaming the designer on Etsy.com, where she mainly does her business. In a feedback section of the website, Love called the designer a "vile horrible lying bitch".

But that was just one of the "vile and vicious lies” the singer, known for her two-year marriage to Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain, supposedly told about the designer. Simorangkir being a cocaine dealer, a thief, an embezzler, a racist and a homophobe were also among the comments Love supposedly made about her.

Simorangkir is now seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Love is currently married to Austin guitarist Mark Younger-Smith, a former longtime Billy Idol band member.
