How to take advantage of the recession. Everywhere you go it seems as though the people on Main Road as well as Wall. St are being punished by the recession, the recession seems to be infiltrating every corner of our lives. Who benefits from the recession and how can we take advantage? there are ways to take advantage of  the recession, here are 5 steps to how to take advantage of the recession.

STEP 1 - LOOK AT YOUR FINANCES

Look at all your existing finances, you may have borrowed an amount at a high interest rate, look to rebroker that amount so that you can recieve a more favourable interest rate and save money, or why not call the banks you borrowed money from and inform them that the recession is taking its toll on your fininces and that you need the interest to be stopped and the payments to be reduced, becuase the banks are now aware of the situation they may be able to lower the interest rate and minimum payments.

STEP 2 - LOOK AT ALL YOUR CONTRACTS

Look at all your existing contracts, phone contracts, broadband contracts, magazine subscriptions, call each of the company up and again explain to them that you are having difficulties making the payment however you still want to honour the account, these companies are aware of how the recession is affecting everyone and usually can reduce the monthly payments about 75%, thats a great saving you can allocate to your savings account.

STEP 3 - PURCHASE WHEN PRICES ARE LOW

As the economy slows and aggregate demand falls the price of goods and services also falls, if your looking to redecorate or refurnish your house or make a considerable purchase then this is the best time to go shopping, you can make further savings by waiting for the sale during the recession, this way you are getting twice the savings, some shops are offering financing your purchase at the low interest rate, opt for this as you will get a double saving and pay slowly at a really low interest rate. Win Win situation.

STEP 4 - LOOK TO BUY CHEAP QUALITY STOCK

The recession is not going to last forever, do some research on the internet to find quality stocks that are unlikely to go bust and the only reason for the decline is the fear in the market, by purchasing cheap quality stock and holding for 5 years you can expect a explosive growth and rise in the price of the companies shares as well as the prospects of the company, this can be one of your long term investments.

STEP 5 - SHORT SELL WEAK STOCK

Even though the recession wont last forever we are still not out of the woods yet, you may wish to capitalise on the declining prices by short selling really weak stocks in anticipation of a further fall from grace, the more the companies stock price falls the more money you set to make, this can be a shorter term investment opportunity for making money, beware of financial stimulus packages by the government that usually disrupt market dynamics.
