Strawberries are high in vitamin C, manganese and dietary fiber and according to WHF; they rank the highest in health-promoting antioxidants however, according to DrCulter.com; “A new study has found that strawberries that are grown organically have higher concentrations of antioxidants and vitamin C and, additionally, they survive longer without rotting, according to the Los Angeles Times. Furthermore, taste testers were shown to prefer the taste of the natural berries.” So why not start your own organicstrawberry patch, growing strawberryplants is very easy.

According to World’s Healthiest Foods, “One of the more recent areas of health benefit to be documented in strawberry research is the area of blood sugar benefits. Several recent studies have found regular intake of strawberries to be associated with decreased risk of type 2 diabetes. In these studies, significant benefits do not emerge until frequency of intake reaches at least 2-3 strawberry servings per week.”

 I will show you how to prepare sugar-free strawberry shortcake that you can take and enjoy at your next family gathering or picnic.

Things you will need:

  • Strawberries
  • Sugar free strawberry glaze
  • Sugar free pound cake or sponge cake

  1. Make your sugar-free pound cake or buy one if you can find it. Sponge cake is not sugar-free but would be a good substitute. Slice it up. If you need a sugar-free pound cake, I have the recipe for you.
  2. Get your fresh or frozen strawberries and chop them up. A couple of quarts are a good place to start, however, the amount you use is up to you.
  3. Add your package of sugar-free strawberry glaze to your strawberries and mix.
  4. Slice your sugar-free pound cake or sponge cake, pour the strawberries over the top and serve it up.
