A guide to making your own table decorations.

Table decorations can really add a touch of individuality and class to a table. However, they can be very expensive to but they can be made very easily and at very little cost.

You will need:

Small glasses

Ribbons in various colours or patterns

Scissors

Glue

Filler for the glass. You can use whatever you want that will fit in. Popular items include chocolates, almonds, varnished pebbles and candles.

Step 1: Cut the ribbons to the appropriate lengths to wrap around the glass making sure that you leave a 1cm overlap. Seal the ends of synthetic ribbon by running a match along it for about 2 seconds, do not leave it for any longer than this or it will melt or catch fire.

Step 2: Put a line of glue along the back of the ribbon, wrap it carefully around the back of the glass. Make sure that you have a neat overlap.

Step 3: Add as many ribbons as you require and allow the glue to dry.

Step 4: Add whatever you want to the glass. If you do use a candle, please ensure that there are no excess ribbons in the glass
