A great fun way to save money and get a healthy treat for all the family.

Ingredients

1 Large vacuum flask!

1 Level tablespoonful skimmed milk powder

575 ml (1 pint) of long life (UHT) milk.

1 Rounded tablespoon of natural yoghurt into warm milk

sugar, fruit puree, jam, nuts, or whatever flavour you like, to your taste.

Method

Fill a large vacuum flask with boiling water, leave aside for 5 minutes.

Whisk skimmed milk powder into (UHT) milk.

Turn into a clean saucepan and heat to just warm, 44C (112F). For best results use a thermometer.

Mix natural yoghurt into warm milk.

Tip water out of the flask and immediately pour in the milk.

Cover securely with both lids. Leave flask overnight in a warm room.

Remove the inner lid from the flask and cover with outer lid, then place the flask in the fridge until your yoghurt is chilled and set.

Then all you do is place in bowls and add what you like find your own favourites. For something different try honey and chopped toasted almonds; lightly toast the almonds in a medium oven until light gold in colour, allow to cool and add to the yoghurt add the type and amount of honey to taste.

Other ideas: Add sugar, fruit puree, jam, nuts, or whatever flavour you like, to taste.

Important:

Don’t forget to keep some unflavoured yoghurt to start off the next batch.

When the yoghurt starts taking a long time to set, buy a fresh carton of natural yoghurt to start the process from the beginning.
