If you feel like talking to them go ahead and talk. Don't hesitate or else you could lose out on the best thing of your life.

Smiling is great and it's subtle and it doesn't scare the person away. Sending flowers across the room is subtle and nice so that you don't scare the person away but it's a very romantic gesture.
