Who is Glenn Beck?

Glenn Beck, radio and television host, conservative political commentator, author, and entrepreneur; was born Feb 10, 1964 in Mount Vernon, Wa, a small town located approximately 50 miles north of Seattle.  His father was a baker.  His mother committed suicide when he was 13 years old.  In addition to the tragic loss of his mother, Glenn lost a brother to suicide and another brother to a heart attack, all of which apparently contributed to his problems with alcohol and substance abuse. 

Glenn attended Mount Vernon high school and currently describes himself as a self educated man because he never attended college.  After high school Glenn moved to the east coast where he worked as a Top 40 DJ at station WKCI in Hamden, CT.  Glenn eventually launched The Glenn Beck Program which combined politics and comedy. The show was eventually syndicated nationally on Premiere Radio Networks.  It had over six and a half million listeners and was ranked 4th in the nation.  In January 2006, CNN's Headline News announced that Beck would host a nightly news-commentary show in their new primetime block Headline Prime; the show called Glenn Beck, began in May 2006.  Premiere Radio Networks extended Beck's contract.  It was reported that the five-year contract is worth over 50 million dollars.  After Beck signed a deal with the Fox News Channel, CNN discontinued his show.  He can now be seen weeknights at 5p ET on the Fox News Channel.  

MORMONISM

"God stalked me!...He had a giant baptismal rifle," Beck said. "I thwarted him. I led people astray as much as I could, but he kept putting Mormons in my way."  Glenn Beck was born a Roman Catholic but eventually converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and became a Mormon.  

GLOBAL WARMING

"Al Gore's not going to be rounding up Jews and exterminating them. It is the same tactic, however. The goal is different. The goal is globalization. The goal is global carbon tax. The goal is the United Nations running the world. That is the goal. Back in the 1930s, the goal was get rid of all of the Jews and have one global government. You got to have an enemy to fight. And when you have an enemy to fight, then you can unite the entire world behind you, and you seize power. That was Hitler's plan. His enemy: the Jew. Al Gore's enemy, the U.N.'s enemy: global warming. Then you get the scientists -- eugenics. You get the scientists -- global warming. Then you have to discredit the scientists who say, 'That's not right.' And you must silence all dissenting voices. That's what Hitler did." Glenn Beck on Al Gore’s efforts to raise awareness of global warming.

WAR IN IRAQ

"Either you think that we should have never gone there in the first place and we should get out immediately, or you're like me and you think we should finally start fighting this with everything we've got."  He went on to say, "If we withdraw from Iraq right now, it will be our country's biggest moral scar since Vietnam."

MICHAEL MOORE

"I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"  On killing Michael Moore.  

CINDY SHEEHAN

"Who's a bigger prostitute? Heidi Fleiss or Terrell Owens? Who's the person out there -- who's the bigger prostitute: Heidi Fleiss or Howard Dean? No, not even Howard Dean.  John Kerry. Who's the bigger prostitute? Who'll do anything for power or money? I mean, at least Heidi Fleiss -- this is saying something -- at least Heidi Fleiss will admit to being a prostitute. You know what I mean? At least she'll say, 'Hey, I'm doing it for cash.' ... Cindy Sheehan. That's a pretty big prostitute there, you know what I mean?"  Another time Glenn claimed that Sheehan is "pimping out the tragedy of her own son's death for her own agenda."
