How to make a Singapore Sling Cocktail

The Singapore Sling is one of the best drinks you can enjoy anywhere over the world especially in summer but should be enjoyed most of all sitting at the long bar at Raffle’s Hotel in Singapore whilst enjoying nibbling peanuts.

Ingredients you require for the perfect Singapore Sling

1.       30ml Gin

2.       15ml Cherry Brandy

3.       120ml Pineapple Juice

4.       15ml. Lime Juice

5.       7.5ml Cointreau

6.       7.5ml Dom Bénédictine

7.       10ml. Grenadine

8.       A Dash of Angostura Bitters

Place all the above ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake well and pour into a large glass and garnish with a slice of pineapple and cherry. Serve immediately for you and your guests to enjoy. Allow your senses to come alive with the beautiful aroma and refreshing taste especially on a warm summers day.

Interesting facts about the Singapore Sling 

  • The Singapore sling was first created around 1910 at  Raffles Long Bar in Singapore by a bartender named Ngiam Tong Boon.
  • The original receipe was lost so there is debate as to whether the drink ws first created in 1910 or in 1915.
  • The Singapore Sling was thought to be called the Straits Sling at first but he named was changed around the 1930’s
  • Due to the pink colouring of the cocktail it was first considered a women’s cocktail
  • It is an excellent drink for a hot summers day
  • The blend of the ingredients and coolness of the cocktail is what makes this drink so appealing to many people and definitely a must especially if they are visiting the infamous Raffle’s Hotel It was stated by Charles H. Baker Jr., that the Singapore Sling was a “delicious, slow-acting, insidious thing,” and should be enjoyed by all.
