Jade Goody - a tribute from one who prayed for Jade

Jade Goody, famous for her roles in Big Brother on the television in the UK, has now sadly passed away. She was controversial, racist and yet very likeable. She had an awful grimace, yet a beautiful smile. Through it all she has made millions from magazine, book and television deals. She did her best for her family and we prayed for Jade. This is a poem that I wrote two days before her death, having been inspired to pray. 

I prayed for Jade

I don’t know why

Perhaps I heard her babies cry

Perhaps I thought I had to try

For one who courted wealth and fame

Who took the ride, and played the game

Who we deride, and love the same

Perhaps that’s why

I prayed

Just prayed for Jade

I prayed for Jade

Celebrity

Who lived for cash

Who longed for paparazzi flash

The broken dream’s

Not all it seems

With skill she played

The half wit Jade

It was OK’d

With millions made

Until she played that

Visceral tirade

I prayed for Jade

I don’t know why

Perhaps I heard a plaintive cry

Perhaps I thought beyond the sky

Was one who had the power to save

To stop the tide, the final wave

The silent slide into the grave

Perhaps that’s why

I prayed
