Is every woman meant to become a mother?

The Bible never asserts that every woman should become a mother. However, it does say that those whom the Lord blesses to be mothers should take the responsibility seriously. However, the modern age has lured an entire generation of women to exchange the beauty of motherhood for the independence, wealth and power.

The general opinion of today's contemporary men and women is that it is hard for every woman to become mother and that it's tedious, boring and sometimes, just too much.

But, is every woman meant to become a mother? Undoubtedly, God had another purpose in mind (Genesis 1:10). God wanted Adam to start using that God-given capacity of creating. Adam began to reflect an essential part of God's image, that is, the capacity of being part of the process of invention and creation. Coming back to the Genesis account, God said, It is not good for the man to be alone . . . so the LORD God made woman from the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man". God speaks, "Be fruitful and multiply,"

This law intends to foster marriage and intimate relations between a man and woman. The relationship described is very beautiful, intimate, loving, and respectful. When husband and wife unite at permitted times . . . their union reflects a holy act: two people in their physical being and their natural energies reflect the culmination of the divine creative process making all women becoming mothers the foundation of humanity.

For that reason, God shaped a woman's soul and spirit to be the nurturing vessels in a relationship-between man and woman. Traits, by virtue of women's capacity to give birth and nurture life, like receptivity, containment, and an encompassing depth of being were also place by God.

Since motherhood is God-given role to all women, He also provided every woman the capacity of creating-bearing, nurturing, and caring a child from infanthood to adulthood. That is why each of us has a mother, and women have mothered every generation of humans.

God orders mothers to love their children in Titus 2:4-5, which says, "Then mothers can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one maligns the word of God." While the role of motherhood must change and develop, the love, care, nurture, and encouragement a mother gives to her children should never cease.

Therefore, the command of God clearly implies a conscious choice of direction and the choice every woman makes is the central concern of God. Therefore, just as God does not command anyone to be a man or a woman but creates humans the way they have to be, so he does not command them to multiply but creates them so that they have to multiply.

Everything changes when a woman choose becoming a mother. Women, who are meant to become mothers, have it all-- concern for children's needs and development, ability to manage home and resources, resolve conflicts at home and at work, ask questions, listen and learn from others, ardent and compassionate for the benefit of all generations to come.

Women have the nurturing and caring gifts that the world needs right now.  Therefore, the task of today's women is to recognize and live the nurturing spirit more fully according to the objective of creation. Given how essential a mother is for transforming our world, such endeavor is nothing less than sacred.

Is every woman meant to become a mother? Yes, and only when every woman comprehends the nature and purpose of His wisdom and when every woman, meant to become a mother, will aspire to become a mother.
