Here are eleven ways you can use your extra soy sauce packets. If you are on a tight budget, these eleven tips can some flavor to your cooking by saving your leftover say sauce packets.

If you enjoy Chinese food as much as I do, what do you do with your extra soy sauce packets when you eat out at Chinese food restaurants? I save mine! Here are eleven ways you can use your extra soy sauce packets. If you are on a tight budget, these eleven tips can some flavor to your cooking by saving your leftover say sauce packets.

Leave your extra soy sauce packets unopened and store them in the refrigerator. I write the date on zip-lock bag and put my leftover soy packets in it to store in the refrigerator. The soy sauce packets will probably keep much longer this way. My guess is they are comparable to taco sauce packets which are said to be good for about 120 days. (1) The Kikkoman Company states their their bottled soy sauce will keep for several months if stored in the refrigerator after opening. (2)

Before you use them, check out the contents of your soy sauce packets. Some soy sauce packages contain very little soy sauce. Some packets are loaded with salt and msg. Other brands are better for saving. The Kari-Out Company sells Panda Brand Low Sodium Gluten Free Soy Sauce(3) in packets specifically for Asian restaurants. Their soy sauce is also sugar-free and Kosher, and it has zero grams of carbs.

1. Use Your Soy Sauce Packets When You Fix Oriental Food, Chinese Food, or Sushi - If you save your soy sauce packages, you won't have to buy any soy sauce the next time you cook Chinese or Oriental food!

2. Add Your Soy Sauce Packets to Stir Fry -  Add two or 3 packets of soy sauce added to water or broth, rice vinegar, Chinese rice cooking wine, a pinch of sugar, and little Asian chili garlic sauce with a little cornstarch as a thickener to make a nice, basic of stir-fry sauce.

3. Add Your Soy Sauce to Heat-and-Serve Oriental Noodles -These instant Oriental noodle dishes available at your supermarket taste much better with your extra soy sauce on them.

4. Add Your Soy Sauce to Instant Oriental Rice Dishes - I like adding soy sauce to Oriental rice dishes, but I also enjoy using those extra soy sauce packets on other rice dishes for a slightly different flavor.

5. Use Your Soy Sauce Packets for Picnics and Potlucks - Keep your extra soy sauce packages around for guests when you have picnic lunches or potluck dinners.

6. Add Your Soy Sauce to Salads - Add your extra soy sauce to rice wine, sesame oil, lime, sugar, and chili flakes for a zesty, healthy cucumber salad, or mix it with rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, dijon mustard, and ginger powder for a salad dressing on an oriental salad.

7. Use Your Soy Sauce in Soup - Soy sauce mixed in with certain soups adds a delicious flavor to it. Add your extra soy sauce to miso soup, wonton soup, hot and sour soup, egg flower soup, Ramen noodles, etc. for a burst of flavor!

8. Add Your Soy Sauce to Dipping Sauce - Add some of your leftover soy sauce packets to mustard or mayonnaise to make a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets, skewers, or chips. Mix your extra soy sauce with yogurt and curry powder for a creamy dip.

9. Use Your Soy Sauce in Marinades - Soy sauce marinade adds a nice flavor to chicken, pork, beef, salmon fillets, and other fish, so use up some of your extra soy sauce packages when you cook any meat dishes.

10. Use Your Soy Sauce in Bar-B-Que Sauce - Use your leftover soy sauce in bar-b-que sauce for grilling or as a tasty glaze.

11. Keep Your Soy Sauce Packets on Hand for take-out and for anything else where you might need a little soy flavor.
