March Themed Bulletin Board Ideas For Elementary Schools

March is a fun month for decorating elementary school bulletin boards. There are plenty of holidays for the month of March that do not always get focused on. This article will discuss March themed bulletin board ideas for elementary schools.

Music in Our Schools

March is national Music in Our Schools month, and this is a great theme for a bulletin board. For this idea you will need coloring pages of different instruments and music notes. You will also need brightly colored butcher paper, black butcher paper, crayons, markers, or colored pencils, scissors, and a pencil.

Start this bulletin board by giving elementary school students the coloring pages and utensils. Also provide them with scissors to cut out the shapes after they are colored. While the kids are coloring cover the bulletin board with the brightly colored paper.

Then use the pencil to draw a wave line on the butcher paper. The line should be long enough to reach across the entire bulletin board. Then draw 5 more parallel lines next to the first. Cut along the lines and you will have five wave lines. Attach these lines to the bulletin board to look like music paper. Have kids attach the cut out notes and instruments to the different areas of the bulletin board to complete this March themed idea.

Most people do not realize March is Irish American Heritage Month, but this theme is a great way to discuss Irish culture with elementary school students. For this bulletin board you will need construction paper, markers, scissors, and glue. You will also need to cover the bulletin board in butcher paper.

Have students research Irish culture and history and many aspects of it. Then have students choose something they find interesting about Irish history and culture. Help elementary school students draw or write about their interest on a piece of construction paper.  Hang the images on the bulletin board with a message about this March celebration.

Nutrition Month

Another fun bulletin board idea for March is celebrating nutrition. For this project have students bring in images of foods that are nutritious. Help kids find many images. Then cover the bulletin board in butcher paper and write nutrition on it in big letters. Use the images to fill in the letters, and your March themed bulletin board is complete.
