1. Scottish Fold

This cat with an owl-like appearance is called the Scottish Fold. It is also sometimes called Coupari, a cat breed
with a natural dominant-gene mutation that makes its ear cartilage contains a fold, causing the ears to bend forward
and down towards the front of their head.
This breed's original name is Flops for its "floppy" ears. The name Scottish Fold became the breed's name in 1966.
2. Sphynx

This odd-looking rare breed of cat called the Sphynx is also known as Canadian Hairless. This cat is well-known for it
lack of a coat. Sphynx is the first successful breed of hairless cat and first appeared in 1966.
3. Peterbald

Another peculiar-looking breed of cat is the Peterbald. It is of Russian origin. They are not actually hairless but have
very short hair. A Peterbald has an elegantly slim build and distinctive head: narrow and long with a straight profile,
almond-shaped eyes, and big set-apart ears. They have a hair-losing gene and their skin has the appearance of grey
flannel and feels like a horse's muzzle.

Peterbalds are usually sweet-tempered, peaceful, curious, smart, and energetic and live in harmony with other cats
and pets, and also with children.
4. Ukrainian Levkoy

Another hairless cat breed is the Ukrainian Levkoy. It is a cat of very original appearance and with folded ears. These
cats are of medium size, the body is rather long, muscular and slender of rectangular format. The bare skin of Levkoy
is soft and hot; it is excessive, elastic and wrinkled. Additional traits of this cat aside from being hairless includes special
angular contour of its head and "stepped" profile (dogface appearance) folded ears and large, but not well wide opened,
almond-shaped eyes. They are very friendly and active.
5. Turkish Angora

As it name implies, this domestic cat breed is from Turkey. The eyes of Turkish Angora are what make the breed unique.
Its eyes may be blue, green or amber, or even one blue and one amber. The W gene responsible for the white coat and
blue eye is closely related to the hearing ability, and presence of a blue eye can indicate the cat is deaf to the side the blue
eye is located.
6. Oriental Shorthair

This unique breed of cat called the Oriental Shorthair looks like a dog. This cat combines the Siamese body with a
diversity of colorings and patterns. This cat breed displays intelligence and more likely a very sociable animal that
bond closely to their people. They are inquisitive, friendly, emotional, demanding and often quite vocal.

7. Selkirk Rex

This cute feline named Selkirk Rex is a cat breed with highly curled hair, including the whisker. It is distinct from all
other Rex breeds. This breed of cat is either longhair or shorthair variety. It differs from the LaPerm in that its coat is
more plush and thick and although both have dominant Rex Genes, they behave in different ways.

The Savannah is an exotic looking breed of cat. It is a unique-looking hybrid domestic cat breed produced by a cross
between the serval and a domestic cat. This breed was first produced in 1986.
9. American Curl

This cat with distinctively unusual ears that originated in California is named the American Curl. Its ears curl back
from the face toward the center of the back of the skull. An American Curl's ears should be handled carefully because
if handled roughly, it could damage the cartilage in the ear.
10. Don Sphynx
Another hairless cat breed that originated in Russia is the Don Sphynx. This breed of cat is also known as Don Hairless
and it started in 1987 with the discovery of a hairless cat in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don hence the name. The
standard of points describes the cat as being medium sized and muscular, with large ears, almond shaped eyes and
distinctive long, webbed toes.
11. Maine Coon

This breed of domestic cat is the official State cat of Maine, USA. It is well known for its distinctive physical appearance
and one of the oldest natural breeds in North America. Maine Coon is the 2nd most popular breed of cat in the world
(the number one breed is Persian).
It is notable for its large bone structure, its rectangular body shape, and a long, flowing coat. The breed can be seen in
a variety of colors and are known for their intelligence and gentle personalities.
12. LaPerm

Another unique cat breed with curly hair is the LaPerm. This breed has a very affectionate personality and is genetically
unique and not related to any other Rex Cat varieties. It has a dominant gene causing their curly coats. They have an
elegant and athletic build, active and outgoing in character. This cat is reputed to be hypoallergenic cats, provoking a
significantly lower level of allergic responses than normal cats. Their most significant feature is their coat which is made
up of soft waves, curls and ringlets, resembling a shaggy perm.
