Cindy Lou Who Costume
Put together a great Cindy Lou Who Costume!
A Cindy Lou Who costume does not have to be very difficult to put together if you just know what to look for. Many children want to dress up as Cindy Lou Who from "The Grinch that Stole Christmas." Kids these days are looking for the costume from the newer movie, not from the old cartoon that many adults grew up with.
To begin assembling your Cindy Lou Who costume, you will need to think about how to replicate Cindy Lou Who's hair. If you have the cash, you can purchase a wig for this purpose online. If not, you can use a pipe cleaner or a flexible pipe underneath braids to get the hair to stand up like Cindy Lou Who's. Don't forget to purchase red ribbon to put in the hair. No Cindy Lou Who costume is complete without the ribbons.
Next, make sure you have a plain blue, black, or red, and white, ankle-length dress. This will go under Cindy Lou Who's cape and you don't want anything that will compete in color with the cape, so keep it simple. Your Cindy Lou Who costume won't look quite right if there's a hot pink dress underneath the red cape!
Your costume will also need red tights and black mary-jane style shoes. You can find these items easily at Target or Wal-Mart. You might even try your local thrift store. Whatever you do, don't skip them. Detail can make or break your Cindy Lou Who Costume.
Now, you need to pick out a red cape for your Cindy Lou Who Costume. The best thing to use for this is a red Christmas tree skirt with white trim. You can fold it in half and simply wrap it around, or you can cut a hole in the middle where the head goes and wear it like that. You can also check your local thrift stores to see if you get lucky in finding a red cape that is already made.
Finally, complete your Cindy Lou Who costume with a little bit of makeup. Dab some sparkles on the face, use a little mascara, and finish up with some soft lipstick. Voila! There you have it, a perfect Cindy Lou Who costume that will be turning heads all night long.
