Top Five Best Caribbean Alcoholic Drinks

My take on the best alcoholic drinks and recipes on how to mix them up just right.

Always been dreaming about relaxing on that caribbean beachfront, hanging out on a deck-chair, taking in the sun and sipping a...what is that you're sipping anyway? You'd be surprised how many people would respond "Oh it's a daiquiri" and not have any idea what other cool, exotic flavours the Caribbean holds for you. I'm here to add a little bit of perspective to it.

#1 The Rain Man

Ingredients:
* 1 1/4 oz. Bacardi 151 Proof Rum
* 3/4 oz. Melon Liqueur

* 4 oz. Orange Juice
Shake with ice. Pour into a parfait glass filled with ice.

The Rain Man is a nice blend of alcohol (lots of it!) and a calming mix of orange and melon. It excites and leaves one in anticipation. Definitely a great opener if you plan on going all night sipping cocktails

#2 Piña ColadaIngredients:

* 8 fluid ounces Pineapple juice (preferably, of course, pineapple chunks from a fresh pineapple)
* 8 fluid ounces Coconut cream (available canned under several brand names. The best known is Coco Lopez, Real Cream of Coconut.
* 6 ounces Rum
* 3 to 4 cups of Ice
* Cherries
* Slices of pineapple, orange or lime
* Paper umbrellas (?)
In a blender, grind ice while gradually adding the pineapple, coconut cream and rum. Alternatively, use shaved ice. The ice should be thick enough to hold a cherry on top without sinking in. Serve in a tall glass with a straw. Garnish with one cherry and a slice of fruit. Insert a paper umbrella for that additional tropical, exotic touch.

The Piña Colada is now associated with all things Caribbean, and thanks to Jimmy Buffet, now has its own song to go with it. But even if you just like sipping Piña Coladas and don't give two squirts about getting caught in the rain, this drink is definitely a staple on any Caribbean connosieur's pallet.

#3 Tie Me To The Bedpost!

Ingredients:
* 1/2 oz Malibu rum
* 1/2 oz Midori Melon liqueur
* 1/2 oz Sweet and Sour mix
* 1/2 oz Lemon vodka
* Ice cubes

Shake ingredients on ice. Strain into whisky sour glass.

Even though this sounds a bit kinky for a drink, it's a subtle blend of rum, melon, lemon and just the right sweet and sour to make the whole thing come together. Generally speaking though, this drink is one best kept for those private times you have looking out as the sun goes down next to some cute Brown-Skinned girl who has her eye on you. The line "Would you like to tie me to the bedpost" hasn't gone awry as yet.

#4 Between The Sheets

Ingredients:

* 1 oz White Rum
* 1 1/4 oz Bar Mix
* 1/4 oz Brandy
* 1/4 oz Triple Sec
* 1 tsp sugar

Shake in ice. Strain into Champagne glass.

Another somewhat suggestive name, Nothing tastes better between the sheets than...well..between the sheets. The alcohol in it is intense and the taste isn't hindered by the juices (unless of course you add more than we suggest into the mixture). Warning: This Is Not A Drink For Beginners!

#5 Mother

Ingredients:

* 1 oz Vodka
* 1 oz Gin
* 1 oz Sour mix
* 1 oz Grenadine
* Beer to taste

Preparation: Mix Gin, Vodka, Grenadine, Sour Mix together in shaker. Pour into a collins glass with ice. Fill glass to about 1/2 to 3/4 quarters full with the liquor mix. Then top with beer to personal taste.

This drink is a hand-grenade in a glass. Drink with extreme caution and I don't recommend more than two in a night (unless of course you don't plan to remember what you did or who you did it with). It's not a womnder it has a lot of people begging for their mothers.
