eHow and Bukisa: The Big Two

eHow.com and Bukisa.com are excellent resources for writers. But which fits your writing style best?

For those of you who don’t know, I write most of my articles for eHow.com. eHow is an excellent resource for writers - allowing us to earn from the advertising on our work.

The user community is excellent and quite friendly.

However, Bukisa and eHow are meant for different sorts of articles. eHow uses the “How to ... ” article format.

For instance, I have written an article entitled “How to Make Money Online Without Spending a Dime.” It’s an instructional article.

You start with your title, write an introduction, then continue with the steps of your “how to.”

Bukisa, however, has a much more relaxed format. Its inline text editor for authors allows far greater flexibility for article layout.

With eHow, you can submit a single photo or picture per step. Bukisa’s editor allows you to add as many as you wish.

One thing I have noticed, is that eHow pays more per article - provided you have written on a popular topic. I have several articles on eHow that are earning about $1 per month. I know it’s not much, but when you think about it, it’s actually pretty good. If I write 100 simple “how to” articles that earn $1 each, then I’ll get $100 per month - and it’s residual. I will keep earning that money month after month - provided that the topic stays popular.

But how do you pick a popular topic? There’s the question. Fortunately, I have had years of web marketing training and am able to discern what will and what won’t earn, but most people don’t have a clue. So, they may not feel comfortable taking a shot in the dark.

For this reason, Bukisa may be a better option for those people. Bukisa pays authors based on the number of total views their articles get. An author could write about something entirely off the wall and still be paid - provided his article gets visitors.

So which are you? Are you the sort of person who enjoys the simple “How to....” format? Or do you want more of an open canvas to write articles like this?

But here’s the good news: You don’t have to stick to one or the other. Why not use your Bukisa articles to send traffic to eHow, and use your eHow articles to send traffic to Bukisa. It’s a winning plan. I can tell you that it works - and works superbly.
