Recommended air cleaners and purifiers for eliminating pet odors in the home.

We all enjoy our pets and would not know how to act with out our family cat(s), dog(s), hamsters, rabbits, and other family pets. Although we love them and want to keep them, they can leave odors around the house that makes us wonder why. From litter boxes to dander, these furry family pets can leave odors in the home for months long after then have departed for other places.

If you are thinking about selling your home and have pets, big deal busters for potential buyers are strong odors that permeate the air from pets when they enter. You can have the cleanest and nicest home in the neighborhood, city, or state; if it smells like pets you will have a difficult time selling it. At first you may ask what? I do not smell anything. As with anything that smells the longer you are exposed to it, the more you do not notice it. However, someone who does have pets will turn up their nose when they walk into a home that reeks of pet odors.

What causes pet odors, other than the obvious litter box? Pet odors are caused by the things that collect on their hair. Contrary to what some think, hair is not the cause. No matter how long the hair is on the pet, it has no impact on odor.

Things that collect on pet hair to cause the odors include: dust, dust mites, dead skin cells, dried saliva from when they groom themselves, and urine that gets on their hair and dries. When a pet tends to lie in the same spot all the time, the odor will build up and become noticeable. Another cause of pet odors is when pets use the bathroom in the home. Whether they use a litter box or in their favorite corner in a room, these odors can be over powering at times.

Besides giving your pet a regular bath, how do you get rid of pet odors in my home? There are several kinds of electronic air cleaners that work will with removing pet odors. These include ozone generators, ionizers, and activated carbon filters. These three will remove pet odors that are in the air.

The first type of electronic air cleaner is called the ozone generator. It uses a reactive oxidant to destroy bacteria, strong odors (pets), smoke, and chemicals. It uses an electrical charge to breakdown oxygen to create the ozone.

The second type of electronic air cleaner is the ionizer air purifier. The ionizer purifier works by allowing ultra small particles and fumes to pass through an electrical field to change their polarity so that they will either clump together or be attracted to metal plates in the purifier. Ionizers remove particles as small as 0.1 microns including: pet odors, viruses, cigarette smoke, and chemical fumes. This purifier is the only one that will remove pet dancer from the air.

The final electronic air filter is the Activated Carbon air filter. This type of filter uses a system of pores in carbon to absorb molecular size matter through chemical bonding. Activated carbon filters remove pet odor, odorous fumes, gaseous, and liquid contaminates.

You can purchase an electronic air cleaner that has a combination of these types of electronic air cleaners
