the camel is a domestic animal that is mainly found in arid and semi arid parts of the world. rearing of camels has many benefits and in this article you can expect to find these benefits and many more features of camels you may not have heard before. knowing camels starts right here.

many of you may have heard about camels but i guese haven't seen them live as you do with popular domestic pets like dogs, horses and cats. a huge difference exists between these domestic pets and camels when it comes to how they are reared and benefits attached with them.

the camel is a domestic animal that is mainly found in dry lands or the arid and semi arid parts of the world. the middle east and the sub saharan africa countries contribute almost 90% of camel population in the world. camels are kept for milk, meat, blood and can be sold in exchange for money that one can use for other things.

camels have a unique characteristics which are totally different from other domestic animals. some people call them the king of the desert while others nick name them the plane of the desert. they can live in a desert comfortably and can go almost twenty days without drinking water. camels can also survive for days without food if the situation demands. here below are some of the many benefits that can accrue from the rearing of camels

1.milk, camel like some other domestic animals like cows are kept for their milk which serves many purposes in our lives as humans. they are milked three to four times in a day. camel milk has many nutritional and health benefits, a fact approved by even doctors. it has been said that the milk of a camel can cure many different types of diseases like diabetes, ulcers, typhoid, fever, malaria e.t.c. there is also a saying that camel milk can lower the effects of killer diseases like hiv/aids and cancer. some who suffer from these diseases have also said some positive words about camel milk and can be used as an alternative to arv drugs.

2.meat, camels are also slaughterd for their meat which  even betters the common dairy meat that most people consume most. speaking from experiance i think camel meat is the best if at all one has to consume meat. its taste is nice and it can be bet you will never say enough when taking it. its a preffered source of protein and its a guarantee that it will build your body and makes you healthy.

3. blood, although not widely preffered by people some take the blood of camel for nutritional therapy to try to cure or prevent diseases. blood is siphoned from the camel when its still alive and a person will drink the blood when its still hot. alot of positive feedback about the ability of the blood to cure diseases has been said.

4. as a means of transport, the camel are the preffered mode of transport in the desert. pastrolists use it to transport water and food from source points to where they reside in the bushes. they can cover long distances while loaded with water and other stuff and that is what has made the camel as the darling of the pastrolists of the deserts. pastrolists also have to move from one place to another in search of food and water for their animals and to cary their belongings with them they use the camel to transport them.

5. they are sold and exchanged for money, pastrolists or those who rear camels also sell it and obtain cash or money in return that they can use to purchase other things like food that they may need. in fact the camel is becoming the next cash cow as many people have seen the benefits that can come from them and that is creating a market for them and hence increasing their price and in this the person who rears it will have the last laugh.

of course the above were the benefits of rearing camels and we have to also bear in mind that there are some challenges that comes with rearing camels. the harsh desert environments where they are kept is not a place where life can go on easily. environmental degridation and global warming is also worsening the situation and is almost making it hard for people to rear camels.
