Urinary incontinence is not a serious condition but it can be an indication.

Urinary incontinence is the inability to control the bladder.  There are many of us who has this disorder of controlling discharge of urine.  And because there is inability to control urine release, there are instances that urine is discharged in the most inopportune time and inconvenient place.

There are two types of urinary incontinence. These are stress incontinence and urge incontinence.

Stress incontinence is the slight discharge of urine when exercising, coughing or sneezing. There are more women than men affected. Men who undergo urinary incontinence are those under prostate surgery.

Urge incontinence is the inability to control discharge of urine before one reaches the comfort room. Oftentimes men are affected by this type. The causes of this disorder are bladder infection, prostate enlargement, tumors in the bladder, Parkinson’s disease, and nerve related disorder like multiple sclerosis or stroke.

Urinary incontinence is not really something serious to be bothered about. There are absorbent pads, or briefs or panties designed for this that can be bought from drug stores. These are not obvious when worn especially now that loose dresses and apparels are in fashion.

Avoid intake of fluids high in caffeine that strongly stimulates the bladder. If one is overweight, consider losing weight. But it would be much better to have the kegel exercise everyday.

UTI or urinary tract infection is one cause of urinary incontinence. If you suspect that you have UTI, immediately consult a specialist.
