Freelancing can be a great way to work from home, either full time or part time. Here are some tips to get you started.

Are you looking for another option to make extra money? Whether you've been layed off, looking for a way to work from home, or just need some extra side income, freelance work may be the option you're looking for.

Decide what type of Freelance work you would like to get into? There are many options such as, Freelance writing, copy writing, technical writing, web site content, programming, legal work, marketing, and transcribing, just to name a few. You will be able to find something available for just about any skills you may have.

Sign up for a few Freelance companies like, Go Freelance, Get a Freelancer, Elance, and iFreelance. This will give you a chance to view the projects available for each company, and diversity your income between companies. There is always a possibility of a company going out of business so this will make your income safer. Some companies offer limited or trial memberships, but if you really want to Freelance full time a small monthly membership fee can be expected.

Once you find a project you are interested in, you will be asked to submit proposal of how much you are willing to do the project for and when you can complete the task by. At this point you will want to ask any questions you have about the project, and ensure you have an understanding of exactly what you are being asked to accomplish.

After your proposal is accepted, you will complete the tasks asked of you in the time period you have estimated. Then it's time to start a new project.


TIPS:

  • It may take a few proposals to get your feet in the door, frequently priority is given to those who have successfully completed projects in the past.

  • Freelance work is great for those who want to work from home, be flexible with their time, and/or enjoy variety in their work tasks.
