Planning a Honeymoon Destination
By planning your honeymoon destination, you'll be less likely to run into disappointing surprises. A honeymoon should be a time of romance and creating memories that will be forever ingrained in your thoughts and heart.
If you have an upcoming wedding, you'll more than likely also be having a honeymoon. Many couples go by tradition and head to their honeymoon destination right after the wedding. This is a personal choice, but there can be advantages by waiting a day or two after the wedding. A wedding usually takes months to plan and the couple is usually exhausted by the time they have said "I do". If you wait a day or two after the wedding to head to your honeymoon destination, you can replenish and be able to enjoy your time together even more. Whatever you decide, it's important to plan ahead.

Tips for Planning Your Honeymoon
Scheduling Honeymoon
The length of your honeymoon will depend on how much time each of you have. If you both work, you may only have a weekend for your honeymoon or you may have an entire week or two. Where you decide to go will depend a lot on how much time you have. You need to consider travel time as well as the time you will spend at your destination. Also, you should consider the time you may need once you get home to settle in as newlyweds before going back to work.
The Destination
The destination for your honeymoon should be a place, an atmosphere that both of you will enjoy. This should be thought out and agreed upon well in advance of the wedding, to prevent any tension. That's the last thing you need as a new married couple.
The possibilities for your honeymoon destination are endless. You may want to travel to a foreign country or spend romantic nights on the beach. The two of you may be more adventurous and enjoy camping in a secluded spot or hiking in rustic territory. Your preference for a warm or a cool climate should be considered.
Budgeting Your Honeymoon
The budget should also be agreed upon well before the wedding. The first step is figuring out how much you have to spend without going deeply in debt. Look for as many discounts as possible on airline fees, if you are traveling by plane, on hotel or other accommodations. Don't forget to budget for meals, taxis, souvenirs or anything else you will be spending money on.
Activities for Your Honeymoon
You may enjoy spending time on lots of activities on your honeymoon or you may prefer to have quiet time together more than anything. The activities will depend a lot on where you are going. Decide what you prefer to do. You may want to divide your time between activities and quiet time or do one or the other. Even a day at a spa getting pampered can be an enjoyable and relaxing activity for the newlyweds. Some couples may prefer sightseeing and shopping. It's all a matter of preference and compromising on what you would like to do.
What Type of Accommodations
Your accommodations will also depend a lot on where you are going. The options are many. You may prefer a rustic cabin with a romantic atmosphere or a posh hotel that offers many amenities. Some couples may prefer a resort that offers many activities. Schedule the accommodations well ahead of time. Check for discounts and reservations.
Meals
Some couples thoroughly enjoy cooking together. Some prefer to dine out. Your preference should be agreed upon and coordinate with your accommodations. If you prefer to cook your own meals, make sure the place you prefer to stay at has kitchen accommodations.
By discussing each detail and planning well ahead of time, you will be assured of the best honeymoon possible. This is the start of a new life together and your honeymoon is a time to create beautiful memories.
