country in South America. It fronts on the Pacific Ocean and is bordered by Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and

Chile.

Here are the 12 most beautiful and captivating spots in Peru.

1. Paracas Beach

Peru offers lots of scenic views. One of which is the Paracas Beach. Enjoy its cool water and its fine sands and have

a chance to encounter pelicans that roam along the beach. Paracas Beach belongs to the desert peninsula Paracas

on the south coast of Peru. Most of the peninsula is part of the Paracas National Reservation.

Second on our list is an oasis. This country is really endowed with bunch of beautiful natural wonders. Huacachina is

a small town in the Ica Region, in southwestern Peru. Huacachina is built around a small lake in the desert. Called the

"oasis of America," it serves as a resort for local families from the nearby city of Ica, and increasingly as an attraction for

tourists. It's truly a paradise in the midst of a barren landscape.

This amazing lake is shared by Bolivia and Peru and is home to the Uru people who built houses and boats out of

reeds. It sits 3,812 m (12,507 ft) above sea level making it the highest commercially navigable lake in the world. By

volume of water it is also the largest lake in South America. The lake also contains several islands.

4. Ballestas Islands

If you are fond of animals Ballestas Islands is one of the best places to go. The Ballestas Islands form an important

wildlife reserve. It has over 160 species of marine birds, including Humboldt penguins, cormorants, boobies, pelicans

and, occasionally condors. There is also animal life, including sea lions, seals, dolphins and whales. The islands are

off the coast of the Paracas National Reserve, 240 km south of Lima.

Do you want to see the "Most Beautiful Mountain in the World"? Alpamayo is one of the most impressive peaks in

the Cordillera Blanca of Peru, measuring 5,947 m. This is one of the best peaks in the world for mountain climbers.

Alpamayo Mountain was declared "the most beautiful mountain in the world" by UNESCO in 1966.

6. Nevado Huaguruncho Peak

Another peak with a breathtaking view is the Nevado Huaguruncho. It is 5723 m high and surrounded by some

smaller glaciated peaks. It is the major mountain of the Cordillera Huaguruncho situated on the edge of the East

Andes in Peru. Located above the Amazon rainforest, 40 kilometers to the East of Cerro de Pasco near the town of

Huachon, the region is renowned for its wild and astonishing beauty.

7. Llanganuco Lagoon

Another tourist attraction in Peru that offers a panoramic view is Llanganuco Lagoon. It is located in a narrow valley

glacier. It is flanked by the Huascaran and Huandoy Hills (White Mountain range). In the borders of the first lagoon,

Chinancocha (lagoon female), are leafy forests of queñual. The second lagoon, Orconcocha (male lagoon), is at the

end of the valley and is smaller.

One of the most amazing landscapes in the world is the Colca Canyon in Peru. It is a canyon of the Colca River, in

the Andes mountain range, in southern Peru. It is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States,

but is not as steep. The local people still maintain ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca stepped

terraces.

From Cotahuasi Canyon, beautiful sceneries can be viewed. Cotahuasi Canyon near the city of Arequipa in Peru is

considered the deepest of the Americas. Its maximum depth is 3535 meters in the sector of Ninancocha, 335 meters

more than the Colca Canyon, but less deep than several canyons in the Himalayas. The Cotahuasi Canyon is an

impressive edge that the river has opened between two enormous mountainous bulks. You will surely have lots of

One of the most recently discovered wonder of natures in the world is the Gocta Waterfall. The Gocta Waterfall a

waterfall with two drops is approximately 700 km to the north-east of Lima in Peru. Its existence was made public

following an expedition in 2005 by the Edward Smith and Joseph Valle & German Stefan Ziemendorff with a group

of Peruvian explorers. The waterfall, which can be seen from kilometers away in the heart of the Chachapoyas region,

has been christened Gocta Falls, after the name of the nearest settlement.
