Features To Look For In Professional Photo Printers
Before buying a professional printer be sure to check the requirements accordingly
According to most printer experts within the computer industry, the advancement of digital photo technology has made it so easy to print "photo-quality" photos that you don't need to spend a fortune for a printer in order to do so. Inexpensive printers are often just as capable of printing very high quality photos as printers that cost hundreds. The real differentiating factor comes down to features and speed. High quality printing of high resolution photos does require more expensive technology, but for most common photography needs of most households, moderately priced or even inexpensive printers will suffice. When you're shopping for a professional photo printer, you'll need to decide whether you want to purchase an ink jet photo printer, a dedicated photo printer, or a professional photo printer. Most color ink jet printers today can print high quality photo-quality images on paper, but ink jet photo printers are designed and programmed to print images using millions of colors that result in extremely detailed photo printouts. However, there are now unique printers that specialize in exclusively printing out photos on glossy photographic paper. These are the small dedicated photo printers, many of which can be connected directly to a digital camera, so that printing photos doesn't even require a computer anymore. However, the only acceptable devide to print high quality photographs is the professional photo printer. There are less expensive ones that amateur photographers can use to print their artistic or other photos, but many professional photographers prefer to pay a little more so that they can print high quality glossy photographs at much larger sizes. With professional photo printers and digital technology, the days of the "dark room" are quickly becoming a thing of the past. What makes professional photo printers stand out above the rest? The key difference comes down to two factors, speed and size. Most professionals prefer the professional photo printers that can print, at a minimum, tabloid sized photos. Others range out to "super-tabloid," whic is typically 13 by 19 inches. As larger sizes are needed, the printer prices tend to rise dramatically. Paper rolls for typical professional photo printers range from 24 inches up to 60 inches. The faster these printers can tranfer digital photography to the paper, the higher the price rises as well.
