How to Bake Bacon

I choose to oven bake bacon instead of frying. It's less greasy, less messy, and my house doesn't smell like bacon for the next 2 days. Cleanup is also a snap!

Step 1

Take a large metal cookie sheet and cover it with tin foil. Align the bacon strips on the pan (big ends to small ends to make room for all of the bacon.) Bake at about 400 degrees.

Step 2

Every 5 minutes or so take the pan out and drain the grease into a grease can. I don't like the bacon to be swimming around in grease which is why I choose to bake it in the first place. Turn the bacon over every 5 minutes or so for even cooking.

Step 3 When at desired crispness, take bacon out of the oven and lay onto paper towels to drain grease. I also take another paper towel and lay over bacon to dab off excess grease.

  • Whenever possible, I choose to bake meats. It's a much healthier alternative. Clean-up is a snap when you just roll up the tinfoil and throw away!

thanks for that! I love the taste of bacon, but I hate the smell!
