Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth accidentally struck down a Florida pedestrian while driving his Bentley today.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth accidentally struck down a Florida pedestrian while driving his Bentley today. Stallworth was driving near Miami Beach when he his a person who was walking across the marked causeway, according to
Yahoo Sports. The Washington Post places the time of the accident at 7 am. The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, died this morning at age 49 after being rushed to a trauma center.

It remains unclear who was at fault in the accident. The man was struck near a crosswalk, reports the Canadian Press, but it is unknown whether he was crossing the street legally. Stallworth has been questioned and has received an alcohol and drug screening, but the results of these tests have yet to be released. The Associated Press reports that these tests are routine procedure for fatal accidents such as this. He has not been charged with any crime as of this time.

Stallworth is a 28 year old professional football player hailing from Sacramento, California. He earned the nickname “Hands” for his skill at receiving while playing at the University of Tennessee. Stallworth just signed to play for the Cleveland Browns in March of last year and has previously played for the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, and New England Patriots. He has played in the NFL since 2002. According to the NFL, he has completed 296 receptions for 4383 yards during the course of his professional career.
