Windows Seven is the latest addition to the Window operating system series. As such, Windows Seven has a few new features and additional options to further galvanize the operating system. So, this is what’s new in Windows Seven.

Revamped task-bar:

While Windows Seven retains the Windows Vista orb on the left side of the task-bar, the Windows Seven task-bar has been revamped. To begin with, the task-bar has been expanded a little and is slightly larger to accommodate larger minimized Windows. Minimized Windows in Windows Seven are now square, which means that more Windows can fit on the task-bar. Minimized Windows now also include icons, similar to short-cut icons.

Jump Lists:

While the start menu is pretty much the same as before, it includes jump lists for applications. These jump lists provide short-cuts to the most recently opened documents with the likes of Word, Excel, and any other productivity software. In addition to this, documents and software short-cuts can be pinned to the start-menu.

Revamped accessories: Paint and WordPad

Windows accessories such as Paint and WordPad have been given a revamp with some new options added. For example, now WordPad has options to add pictures, date, and text highlighter among other formatting options. Paint also has a wider selection of brushes and shapes.

Sidebar removed and replaced with gadgets:

The Vista sidebar has been replaced by the more flexible gadgets. Overall, these gadgets are fairly similar to their predecessors although without a sidebar they can be moved around the desktop more.

Sticky Notes:

Sticky Notes are a new accessory to Windows Seven. Although, they could previously be added to the Vista desktop via the Windows sidebar. With these, notes can be left on the desktop.

Windows XP Mode:

Windows XP Mode is not available with all versions of Windows Seven, but those that do include can return to the classic Windows XP. With this, Windows Seven software compatibility is further enhanced.

New Themes:

Windows Seven has added a few new themes and wallpapers to its repertoire. Among the new themes include Windows Seven, architecture, and landscapes. Windows Seven wallpaper includes some colorful new additions also.

So, these are some of the new options and additions to Windows Seven. Windows Seven has some good new accessories such as Windows snipping tool and notes, an enhanced task-bar, extra-themes, jump lists, revamped Paint & WordPad, Windows XP Mode, and gadgets which have replaced the sidebar.
