Swiss Sciences Nutrition - What Are Nutraceuticals?

Nutraceutical products used to be considered alternative medicine, but now research has been showing the importance of nutraceuticals to our everyday diet. Swiss Sciences is a team of Researchers.

New studies by food scientists have show there to be more to food science than we thought just a couple decades ago. The analysis of food was once limited to its flavor and nutritional value until very recently. There is a lot of new evidence out now that shows certain components of food might function considerably in the link between food and health.

The word nutraceuticals was first created by a man named Dr. Stephen L. DeFelice and is derived by combining the words "nutrition" and "pharmaceutical". The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines nutraceutical as "A food stuff (as a fortified food or a dietary supplement) that provides health benefits." Essentially, nutraceuticals are foods or food products that have beneficial infulence on health, including the treatment and prevention of diseases. Dietary supplements are found in many forms such as tablets, capsules, soft-gels, gel-caps, liquids, or powders. Ingredients in these products can consist of: vitamins, amino acids, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, and metabolites. All of Swiss Sciences Nutrition's products are made through manufacturing processes that are medical grade facilities such as NHK and NULAB facilities.

Such products are also referred to as functional foods, signifying they and their ingredients may provide health benefits besides basic nutrition. They may range from dietary supplements, isolated nutrients, and specific diets to genetically engineered foods, and processed foods. Recent breakthroughs by researchers and medical practitioners have enabled the integration of information from clinical studies into effective treatments and therapies in medical practice.

Some examples include fruits, vegetables and fortified or enhanced foods. Though all foods are functional in the respect that they provide nutrients, nutraceuticals contain health-promoting ingredients and natural components that have a potential health benefit for the body.

Strengthening food for the benefit of health started in the US in the early 1900s when food manufacturers began adding iodine to salt to prevent goiter. Today, hundreds of compounds with functional qualities are now known.

Swiss Sciences was created to bring to you effective all natural nutrition products along with the high integrity of a very experienced, highly motivated, management and support team - who are committed to your health. Nutraceuticals are among the fastest-growing branches of the food industry. Swiss Sciences Nutrition is the creator and marketer of some of the highest quality dietary products in the world.

The new interest in the relationship between diet and health has boosted the demand for more information in the field of nutraceuticals. Advances in science and technology, increased health care costs, food law changes for product labels, an aging population and higher interest in attaining wellness through dieting are among the factors fueling U.S. interest in nutraceuticals. Scientific research shows many potential health benefits from nutraceuticals. These benefits could increase the health claims now permitted to be identified by the FDA.
