This war movie is an instant classic. Mel Gibson's portrayal as Col Moore, is exceptional!

We Were Soldiers is classic on its own. It is a war movie that depicted the first United States soldiers sent to the war in Vietnam. It is starred by Mel Gibson and portraying Col. Moore the 7th Cavalry Helicopter Unit of the United States Army. The first part focuses on the training undergone by the soldiers.

Their preparation prior to the engagement and then on the later part it focuses on two aspect. The war in Vietnam and the wives of the soldiers. Col. Moore promised his men that he will be the first one to step on Vietnam soil and he will be not leave anyone one behind. A promised that he fulfilled as they pulled out from vietnam.

This movie is really great as it does not depict pure violence. It also depicts emotions most especially on the side of the wives of the soldiers. Moreover, it shows a lot of hearts among the soldiers and tactics in terms of warfare. Though we may not see high tech weapons on this type of movie but I do believe that this is what war should be. Based on tactics and maneuvers that will greatly bring out the intelligence of a man in so far as strategy and planning are concerned.

I commend the actors and the director for coming with such brilliant movie. Though war brings out lots of damage and death as well as violence, it is part of history. From history we learn. From war we see people coming out as heroes, it brings out the best and worst of men. Well, this is truly enjoyable to watch as well as dramatic. So be sure to grab yourself a copy
