Get a free website and domain
Guide on how to find a free domain and free hosting.
Did you know that you can get webhosting, without banners or ads, for free? Many people don't know that there are websites out there that offer all of these services with no cost to you. In this article, I'll show you how to get a free co.cc domain and find free webhosting.
What is Co.cc?
Co.cc is a website that gives away free subdomains such as yourname.co.cc. The vast majority of their names are free, though some more popular ones must be paid for. You can use your co.cc subdomain to either re-direct to your main website, or as an address itself. The great thing about co.cc subdomains is that they look and act like real domains. Co.cc is a great service that has registered over 1.7 million domains with over 1.2 million members. They've also got a referral program so you can get paid for those you sign up for their service, even free signups.
You’ll need somewhere to host your website, either a free hosting service or one you’ve paid for.
If you don't have a hosting service, then here are a few great free webhosts:
000webhost, http://www.000webhost.com - They offer full hosting just like a real webhost, one of the best free hosting deals out there.
Features: 1500 MB Disk Space, 100 GB Data Transfer. PHP, MySQL databases, CPanel, and much more.
Awardspace, http://www.awardspace.com - Another great choice, has been around many years.
Features: 200MB Disk Space, 5GB Monthly Traffic, PHP and MySQL.
Both of these sites offer real webspace and hosting, 100% free.
You'll need to have a basic understanding of html and website building to get started on these sites, but there's many free html tutorials on the internet to learn from.
More information on building your website.
It usually takes a few hours for your co.cc domain to register, and if you’re using a webhost, around 24 hours to align itself to the host. You can sign up for 2 free co.cc domains, any more after that requires a $10 or more donation. If you donate $10 or more then you can make 100 co.cc domains.
If you'd like a blog, you can go to http://wordpress.org and download their free blog software. They've also got guides on how to easily install the blog script to your host.
You could have a free co.cc domain, a free webhost, a download of Wordpress software and have your own blog with a domain with no cost! You can find my online money-making blog using all of these free services at http://opresource.co.cc.
