Summer make-up should be light and not harsh. You can play with summer shades to add some glow. The make-up you use should enhance your natural beauty and not become a nightmare in the heat.

Make-up can be a nightmare in the heat of summer. Skin tends to become oilier and that makes it difficult for make-up to stay fresh. By making some adjustments to your beauty routine, you can look natural and beautiful and maintain a fresh face, even in the heat of summer.

You may choose to go without make-up in the summer, but most women like to add at least a little color to their face. Make-up doesn't just add color, but many products protect the skin.

If you have a cosmetic department where you buy your make-up, you can ask the advice of a salesperson. They often have lots of useful tips and for free. The first step in keeping your make-up fresh is to choose formulas that hold up well in the heat. Waterproof, non-oily, powders and long-wearing formulas offer good durability.

For a very light and natural make-up look

If you have a good complexion and don't need much coverage, choose an oil-free moisturizer with sunscreen. Add some waterproof mascara and a light-colored lip gloss. You'll have a natural and pretty look, perfect for summer.

For a light make-up look

Use a tinted moisturizer. I use "Visual Perfection" by Avon and love it. It has a SPF of 20. Tinted powder can also be used over a non-oily moisturizer for a bit of color. Add an eyeshadow that works with your skin tone. It's important to know if your skin tone is warm or cool and choose products in those shades. Add water-proof mascara and a light-colored lipstick with sunscreen.

For added color and coverage

Use a light-weight foundation in a shade that matches your skin tone. After foundation dries, brush face lightly with loose powder. This helps set your foundation and keep it fresher longer. Line eyes lightly with powdered liner, but only line the top lid. Lining the bottom lid in summer can cause smearing unless you find a product that works very well. Add eyeshadow in a shade that works with your skin tone. By adding a light shade of powder blush, you'll give your face more color. Apply a bright shade of lipstick with sunscreen to give a radiant summer glow.

Tips

* Always apply make-up over a clean face.
* Use astringent or toner before applying make-up if skin is very oily.
* Apply products lightly instead of using heavy layers.
* Allow moisturizer to dry before applying foundation.
* Allow foundation to dry before applying loose powder or powder blush.

Summer make-up should be light and not harsh. You can play with summer shades to add some glow. The make-up you use should enhance your natural beauty and not become a nightmare in the heat.

Good job on this. I don't wear much makeup any time of year.. just enough to enhance a bit.
