Learning about college or university life through hearsay is the worst thing you can do. There are just too many myths about it that even the undergraduate students take as true. Many reasons are behind that, but one that often seems to be the biggest problem is seeing the college or university as second home. Today we will take a look at what myths always make it to the gossip table and debunk them one at a time.

1. Online classes are rejected by majority of the universities because they are not serious at all:

This is a myth that often is found in community colleges. But the truth is that even University of Berkeley accepts online classes. Only thing is that they must match their own course names and numbers. So instead of hearing how your friend does not take online classes seriously you should go to your adviser.

2. It is okay to major in what makes us obsessed:

Sure it is good to be obsessed about Business Management, for it does have the ability to give you a wonderful life later on. But same cannot be told for Cultural Anthropology because its field has only a few jobs. The best way to choose a major is to research on its intensity and the future surrounding it. Remember, passion for certain majors becomes the recipe for disaster after graduation. After all, what good is a major if it cannot give you food and shelter?

3. It is okay to stay in school year after year:

Sure you can do it if you have enough money in your bank account. However, what you must know is that tuition fees keep going higher every year especially during college and university budget crisis. It is happening at the moment.  So not graduating on time will actually make you pay extra.

4. Just maintaining a good GPA makes it easy to get a job:

No, this is not true especially during this economic crisis. Although having a good GPA will make you a great candidate for a job at the end of the day your internship, experience in other side jobs, confidence level and communication skill will be the foremost things that will make you favorite among your interviewers.

5. During academic years, it is best to fool around with girls than looking for a serious relationship:

College and university are the best places for finding serious relationships with educated girls. So if you make a fool out of yourself by not taking it seriously you might find yourself looking for wife at dating sites, bars and clubs after graduation.
