How to Plan a Family Reunion

I have been planning my family's reunion for a few years now. We take a weekend at the lake but you can easily do a one day reunion at a near by shelter house or park.

Weekend get away, a day of family fun or a family vacation.,decide what your familiy reunion is going to be like.! You are in charge.  If you need help, form a reunion committee, ask as many family members as you can and as a group you make the decisions. Make sure to let the family know that they all have an opportunity to be a part of the planning, but they have to be willing to help with everything and be at the meetings the committee has. This will help to make sure everyone feels apart of it. My family just wanted a say on what resort we stayed at. The rest they make suggestions and offers to do things I just write down what they offered and make sure no one else is doing the same thing.

Make a list of as many of your family members as you can. Go to your oldest living relative and ask them for names or the head of each family and ask for the names and addresses in their immediate family. Then get as many addresses and phone numbers that you can. I even got a email list together so I can get responses to ideas faster. Talk to as many of your family members as you can see what time of year they could get a little time off from work and their busy lives. Then pick a date or have your committee pick it. Then you should stick to the date.

Just a warning you might not be able to please everyone so go with the majority of your family. Suggestion on what I have learned- I learned to delegate after the first year. I keep a notebook and I write down what everyone said they were bringing or what they said they could do. Then a month or so before I call them up and confirm that they still are going to be able to do whatever it was they said they could.

I also use that phone call as a time to let them know of any changes that might have happened. I also keep in that notebook a list of everything my family said they liked or any suggestions they said to make it better so that next year I can make it even more enjoyable.
