10 Huggable Men: Famous Fat Men in the World

The likes of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, George Cloney, Matt Damon, Leonardo De Caprio

and many other famous Hollywood superstars have to stay fit to stay in the limelight but not for the list

of men below. Despite their being chubby, they are/were famous the world over.

Most men (including women) start to gain weight when they reach their thirties for several reasons. Does

being fat a hindrance to becoming famous? Let's find out.

1. William Howard Taft

If people didn't find him sexy they shouldn't have voted him. Despite being a heavyweight, this man became famous

and popular. William Howard Taft is oftentimes regarded as the heaviest leader in the world. He was the 27th US

President served from 1909 to 1913. He was 159 kg or 359 lb heavy. He was also the 10th Chief Justice of the US

serving from 1921-1930. Earlier to this, he also served as the first civilian Governor-general of the Philippines from

1901 - 1903. Taft Avenue in Manila was named in his honor. Weighing over 300 pounds on average, Taft was physically

the heaviest American president ever elected. Taft is also, to date, the last U.S. president to wear facial hair. He used a

cane made of 250,000-year-old wood.

2. Winston Churchill

Well, literally, this man is really sexy during his younger age though he gained much weight later he became more

popular. One of the most notable leaders of the 20th century is Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill. He was born in

1874 and passed away in 1965. He was a British politician known chiefly for his leadership of the United Kingdom

during World War II and served as Prime Minister of UK from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. A noted

statesman and orator, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a Nobel Prize-winning writer, and

an artist.

3. Grover Cleveland

This more than 300 pound man became famous in the world for becoming the president of the US for two times.

Stephen Grover Cleveland (March 18, 1837 - June 24, 1908) was both the 22nd and 24th US President. Cleveland

is the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms (1885-1889 and 1893-1897) and therefore is the only

individual to be counted twice in the numbering of the presidents.

4. Kublai Khan

This man with huge body frame is famous in the pages of History books. Kublai or Khubilai Khan was a prominent

Mongol ruler in the 13th century and the founder of the Yuan Dynasty. He was a grandson of Genghis Khan and

claimed the title of Khagan of the Mongol Empire in 1260. He developed severe gout in the later part of his life and

also gained weight due to a fondness for eating animal organs and other delicacies. His overeating may have been

related to the deaths of not only his favorite wife, but also his chosen heir Zhenjin. He died in 1294.

5. Luciano Pavarotti

No need to look for statistical figure to say that this man is obese. This huge man who dreamed of becoming a

professional football goalkeeper is known the world over for his golden voice. Luciano Pavarotti, born in 1935

and died in 2007, was an Italian operatic tenor, who also crossed over into popular music. He was the most

commercially successful tenor of all. He was one of "The Three Tenors" and became well known for his televised

concerts and media appearances. Pavarotti was also noted for his charity work benefiting refugees, the Red Cross

and other causes.

6. Marlon Brando

Marlon Brando was a sexy actor during the early stage of his acting career. He gained a great deal of weight in the

1980s and by the mid 1990s he weighed over 300 lbs. and suffered from diabetes. He was an Academy Award-winning

American actor whose body of work spanned over half a century. He is widely considered one of the greatest actors of

all time, and was named the fourth Greatest Male Star of All Time by the American Film Institute. He was born in 1924

and died in 2004.

7. Ernest Borgnine

This huggable man is considered as one of the best actors of all time in the film industry His real name is Ermes

Effron Borgnino and was born in 1917, better known by his stage name Ernest Borgnine. He is a Golden Globe, BAFTA

and Academy Award winning actor. He had starred in a dozens of films and acted on numerous television shows.

8. Sammo Hung

Despite the relatively huge size of Sammo Hung, he can perform stunts and acrobatics and is a surprisingly agile

and formidable martial artist. Sammo is a Chinese actor, producer and director from Hong Kong and famous for his

many kung fu films. He has been a fight choreographer for, amongst others, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow

and John Woo. In 1998, US television network CBS began to broadcast Martial Law (1998-2000) on Saturday nights,

a comedy-drama built around Hung.

9. Bud Spencer

Bud Spencer is one of the actors I used to watch when I was still a kid. His real name is Carlo Pedersoli and was

born in Italy in 1929. He is an actor, film maker, and swimmer, yes a swimmer. As a matter of fact, he was the first

Italian to swim 100m in less than a minute. He wasn't chubby during his younger days. He is known for his height

at 6'4 ½" (194 cm) and his past roles in spaghetti westerns. Double Trouble, Miami Supercops and Troublemakers

are some of his popular films with Terrence Hill.

10. John Goodman

John Goodman an American actor was born in 1952 whose complete name is John Stephen Goodman, a Golden

Globe and Emmy winner. He is known for his deep, boomtown voice, and his large and robust size. Goodman is famous

for his role as "Dan Conner" on the American sitcom, Roseanne, which aired on ABC from 1988 to 1997. Raising Arizona,

Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski are some of films where Goodman starred. He has been the voiceover in all commercials

of Dunkin' Donuts since 2007.
