Health and diseases: Signs and symptoms of Diabetes I and II. Diabetes Mellitus is a condition of metabolism disorder with regards to glucose. You have to get it treated right

Diabetes Mellitus  is a condition of metabolism disorder with regards to glucose. You have to get it treated right away and follow your treatment carefully or else you can have your hands and legs cut off. You can also become blind. You can also have pain in your feet and hands and you won’t be able to walk or work. You can also get into a coma stage and pass out called keto-acidosis. It’s overall a very dangerous condition and need treatment right away. The treatment is just taking your medication and changing your lifestyles like eating and sugar intake. Diabetes has two types and one is genetic and the other one is high sugar intake. Most people have the one where it’s sugar induced. This is good news because as soon as you cut your sugar, you’ll get back to better health. Sugar is not a good source to eat.

What are the different types of Diabetes Mellitus?

1. Type I

  • Body organ involved: pancreas that produce insulin
  • The pancreas produces insulin. If the pancreas is attacked then it won’t produce enough insulin.
  • Regions affected: glucose in the bloodstream is too high. The body can’t remove the glucose from the blood for cellular use.
  • The glucose is usually uptake by cells for use but now glucose won’t be able to be uploaded by cells for use and it remains in the bloodstream to be urinate out.
  • Cause: The beta cells of the Islet of Langerhans doesn’t produce insulin. The body doesn’t produce enough insulin leading to low level of insulin to regulate blood sugar.
  • There’s not enough insulin supply to attack glucose and thus the glucose in too high in the blood. This is why patients need to take insulin in order to calm down the glucose level.
  • The beta cell is being attacked by an autoimmune virus.
  • Any virus or environmental stressors like chemical can trigger the attack of the beta cells. As we can see the body is effected overall by one virus or one illness, everything will fall like the domino effects.
  • Normal value: 80-120mg/dl
  • It’s the treatment goal to get patient to this level and never above or below.
  • Dangerous value: 400mg/dl and above need immediate medical attention or else the patient can die from ketoacidosis.
  • Trigger by : virus, environmental stress
  • Signs and symptoms: blur vision, frequent urination, frequent thirst, frequent drinking.
  • The patient has blur vision from high glucose content. The patient will also feel thirsty and drink often because they urinate too much leading to dehydration leading to more demand for fluid intake.
  • Cure: no cure found.
  • Treatment: subcutaneous insulin replacement shots.
  • Food to avoid: high sugary foods like candy, soft drinks, milky chocolate, ice cream.
  • Lifestyle changes needed: Lower intake of sugar, exercise more.
  • Genetic inherited partially.
  • Consequences: blindness, kidney damage, coma, slow would healing leading to gangrene of wounds and amputation of extremities

2. Type II

  • Body of organ involved is the beta cells of the Islet of Langerhans in the pancreas. The liver that produce high level of glucose.
  • Cause: The body is not responding to the available insulin. The cells receptor for insulin is not responsive. Not enough insulin secretions. Liver produce high glucose level
  • Trigger by : Virus attack, genetic, obesity is found in 55% of the cases.
  • Abdominal fats especially and not beneath skin fats contribute to reduce sensitivity to insulin. Fats in the abdominal that surrounds the organ prevent insulin from being effective. Reducing the abdominal fat area like gastric bypass would really help the condition.
  • Signs and symptoms: blur vision, frequent urination, drinking, thirst.
  • Cure: no cure found
  • Treatment: oral insulin pill, exercise, decrease glucose intake, gastric bypass
  • Overweight people give birth to diabetes because of high glucose level in the blood
  • Food to avoid: high sugar content foods like candy , soft drinks, milk chocolate, ice cream, coffee, any types of sweet cake
  • Genetic inheritance.
  • Consequences: blindness, amputation of extremities from poor wound healing or pain, kidney damage
